A system and method are disclosed for pairing computing devices using an authentication protocol that allows an initiating computing device to gain access to a secure, encrypted network of a target computing device.

Various methods and systems for providing a user interface (UI) generation system for processing UI generation data based on a multi-layer architecture and hierarchically interrelated and supervised scene processes are provided. The UI generation system supports generating UIs based on a scene layer, a viewport layer, and a driver layer that each use protocols and data structures to support UI generation, UI fault recovery operations, and distributed UI generation for UI viewing devices. In operation, scene configuration data is communicated to a viewport engine from a scene engine, the viewport engine uses the scene configuration data to construct a scene management data structure that is defined based on hierarchically arranging and supervising different scene processes. The scene management data structure is used to define scene rendering data that is accessed by a driver engine to cause generation of UI display content, locally or remotely based on the scene rendering data.

Grouping personal accounts to tailor a web service may be accomplished by grouping information from two or more personal accounts. In some embodiments, a personal account may include a set of persons. By grouping personal accounts, a service provider may tailor a web service to multiple people based on information about those people.

A system (and corresponding method) that can enhance a user experience by augmenting real-world experiences with virtual world data to is provided. The augmented reality system discloses various techniques to personalize real-world experiences by overlaying or interspersing virtual capabilities (and data) with real world situations. The innovation can also filter, rank, modify or ignore virtual-world information based upon a particular real-world class, user identity or context.

A license to use content (e.g., a movie, song, application, etc.) is provided to a consumer. The license allows for use of the content by the device the consumer is using (e.g., logged into) and devices near the device the consumer is using. For example, a first computing device obtains a license to restricted content. A second computing device obtains a copy of the restricted content; however, the second computing device is not licensed to use the content and may not be able to access the content because the content is encrypted or otherwise restricted. The first computing device is brought into proximity with the second computing device. In response to detecting that the first computing device is in proximity with the second computing device, the second computing device is provided with legal access to the restricted content. The second computing device can then decrypt (or otherwise access) and play the content.

A content distribution system may be provided for reviewing content such as video games, music, movies, or the like that may be shared by the system. The content distribution system may receive a credential from a user and authenticate the user based on the credential to permit access to the system. The content distribution system may also receive content generated by the user if the user may be authenticated. The content distribution system may provide the received content to a content evaluation entity, for example. The content distribution system may receive a review for the content from the content review entity and then may determine whether the content passes a review process based on the review, for example. The content distribution system may provide additional access to the content if the content passes the review process.

Systems (and corresponding methodologies) that annotate experience data in real-time are provided. The real-time annotated experience data can be employed in accordance with augmented reality systems which are capable of overlaying virtual data upon real-world data. The system employs 'smart-tags' that are capable of identifying data that relates to and/or is associated with the real-world scenarios and situations.

A system to facilitate royalty tracking is provided. The system includes at least one tag to identify a portion of a creative work. A distribution component tracks the portion of the creative work and a crediting component reports usage of the creative work when the portion is detected in a larger body of work.

Distribution channels and monetizing

A system that facilitates enhancing a game, game play or playability of a game may include an experience component, a game component and an alteration component. The experience component can collect a portion of data related to a game in which the portion of data indicates at least one of a tip or a tactic for the game. The game component can dynamically incorporate the portion of data into the game during game play to enhance playability of such game for a user with assistance provided by at least one of the tip or the tactic. The alteration component may alter the game during game play.

Dynamic problem solving for games

A disclosure of a subscription service is provided, where this service allows for the running of unsigned content, such as games, on closed computing systems, such as gaming consoles. The subscription service checks whether gamer tags have an account to run unsigned games on any consoles on which the gamer tags happen to be residing. If so, users associated with such gamer tags can run unsigned content; if not, then they cannot (but may be asked or allowed to subscribe to the service). The subscription service has various facets, some of which include: gamer tags that can interact with the service while being distributed across a plurality of consoles; remote location of the service from the gaming console; user privileges auditing and revocation if users associated with gamer tags violate policies set out by the subscription service, and so on.

Systems and methods are provided for an extensive content build pipeline. The exemplary content build pipeline is based on a code build process using a standard XIF file format containing reference to game content produced using various game content editors and tools. This standardized file format is capable of containing the information required by the content build as metadata, thus enabling a standard content build pipeline. This is opposed to being based on a number of game-specific formats and thus requiring the use of exporters. However, game engine developers can then optimize the XIF files to their particular game engine format.

A system (and corresponding methodology) that dynamically alters a storybook (e.g., literary work). Preferences, policies and contexts can be considered and incorporated into the storyline of the book to enhance interest by creating a rich, personalized experience. By enhancing readability and features (e.g., sensory features), stories become more true-to-life and enjoyable by altering the story over time or to differing context (or content).

Software is licensed for use on a particular computing device, such as a gaming console or a multimedia console. An unlocking code is provided from a distribution service to the computing device (either directly or via a user), which in turn, unlocks the appropriate software or portion of software for use with the associated computing device. The software may reside on a computer-readable medium, such as a CD-ROM or DVD disk, that is being used in conjunction with the computing device. The unlocking code may be provided directly to the user in private (e.g., via email or a mobile phone) or in public (e.g., published on a website). Portions of the software that may be unlocked include a particular level of a game or other features (such as additional characters or weapons), or a working or more advanced version of an application that was otherwise provided as a demo or older version. The unlocking code may be based on a unique identifier of the computing device and an identifier associated with the software seeking to be accessed. Thus, the code may only be used by the computing device having that unique identifier. This prevents unauthorized or unlicensed computing devices from using the software.
