This application discloses a method for controlling traffic in a packet-based network. In the method, after receiving a control packet from a transmit end, an intermediate node between the transmit end and the receive end sends a control packet at the head of a first control queue based on a first duration, wherein the first duration is obtained based on a committed burst size (CBS) and a first committed information rate (CIR), and the intermediate node is configured to send a packet of a first transmit end to a first receive end in the packet-based network. After sending the control packet in the control queue, the intermediate node sends a first data packet set at the head of a data queue based on the sent control packet, wherein the first data packet set comprises C data packets, and C is an integer greater than or equal to 1.

A load balancing method, device and system, where the method includes: determining, based on load statuses of respective probe channels on n paths between a source end and a destination end, a target path with a lightest load in the n paths, where a probe channel is used to transmit a probe packet that includes a bandwidth probe packet; sending a bandwidth probe packet to the destination end through a probe channel on the target path; receiving the bandwidth probe packet returned by the destination end; and sending, based on the bandwidth probe packet returned by the destination end, a to-be-transmitted data packet to the destination end through a data channel on the target path. This application provides a method for transmitting path load information and a network node. The method includes: obtaining, by the network node, M pieces of path load information; aggregating, by the network node into one load metric based on the M pieces of path load information, load of all shortest paths that are from the network node to the destination node and that pass through M adjacent nodes corresponding to the M pieces of path load information, where the load metric indicates total load of all the shortest paths from the network node to the destination node; and sending, by the network node, information about the load metric to another adjacent node other than the M adjacent nodes of all adjacent nodes of the network node.

A method for backing up a TCP connection includes a data transmission process and a data receiving process. A method and a system for process upgrade are disclosed. A source process implements data interaction, via a socket interface, with a far end entity connected with the socket interface. When the source process intends to upgrade itself, the source process copies its process data to a target process and determines if the data from the far end entity received via socket interface is complete. If it is determined that the data is complete, the source process ceases data interaction with the socket interface and copies the received data to the target process. After the data is copied, the source process sends an upgrade and switch indication to the target process and enables the target process to send an upgrade and switch request to the socket interface. The socket interface then switches a socket interface service to the target process. Accordingly, the technical solutions according to the present invention realize a reliable and smooth process upgrade without disconnecting the socket connection.

A message synchronization demarcation method includes: a backup board receives a message of an opposite terminal from an interface board; the message is copied to a main board; the main board processes the message, copies it to the backup board through the buffer unit and transmits the data. Also a message synchronization demarcation system is provided. The data backup between the main board and the backup board is performed through the buffer area without occupying the transport layer resource, so the data flux of communication channels is reduced, the payload is lowered, and the backup steps of messages between the main board and the backup board is simplified. Using the present disclosure, the received message can be demarcated, and the accuracy of message transmission is further improved.

A method for peer migration in a distributed Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) system includes: disconnecting a peer relationship between a source BGP process and a network device, wherein first routing information received from the network device is recorded in a forwarding instruction process; establishing a peer relationship between a target BGP process and the network device, and receiving second routing information from the network device; and updating the first routing information recorded in the forwarding instruction process according to the second routing information.
