A device comprises a first camera, wherein the first camera includes one or more photosensors configured to detect visible light passing, in a first direction, through a first surface. The device further includes a light source configured to emit infrared (IR) light, in a second direction opposite the first direction, through the first surface. The device also includes a second camera configured to detect reflections of the IR light.

A method and apparatus for voice search. A voice search system for a voice-enabled device captures one or more images of a scene, detects a user in the one or more images, determines whether the position of the user satisfies an attention-based trigger condition for initiating a voice search operation, and selectively transmits a voice query to a network resource based at least in part on the determination. The voice query may include audio recorded from the scene and/or the one or more images captured of the scene. The voice search system may further determine whether the trigger condition is satisfied as a result of a false trigger and disable the voice-enabled device from transmitting the voice query to the network resource based at least in part on the trigger condition being satisfied as the result of a false trigger.

Vision-based presence-aware voice-enabled device

A method and apparatus for estimating a user's head pose relative to a sensing device. The sensing device detects a face of the user in an image. The sensing device further identifies a plurality of points in the image corresponding to respective features of the detected face. The plurality of points includes at least a first point corresponding to a location of a first facial feature. The sensing device determines a position of the face relative to the sensing device based at least in part on a distance between the first point in the image and one or more of the remaining points. For example, the sensing device may determine a pitch, yaw, distance, or location of the user's face relative to the sensing device.

Head pose estimation

A method for eye tracking is disclosed. The method may include receiving a first image captured by a first camera based at least in part on reflections of light emitted by a light source. The reflections may be partially occluded by an electronic display disposed in front of the first camera. The method may further include detecting an eye of a user in the partially occluded first image and determining a position or orientation of the eye relative to the electronic display.

Systems and methods for updating an enrollment template having a plurality of enrollment views of a biometric input object. A determination is made as to whether a new input biometric view is a candidate view for template update based on a match criterion, and a determination is made as to whether the new input biometric view increases coverage of the biometric input object by the enrollment template. The new input biometric view is added to the enrollment template as a new enrollment view in response to determining that the new biometric view i) is a candidate view for template update, and ii) increases coverage of the biometric input object by the enrollment template.
