Oil country tubular goods casing coupling

A threaded coupling suitable for drilling oil and gas wells is provided. The threaded coupling having a first end and a second end. A first portion of the threaded coupling proximal to the first end can have a first thread profile, and a second portion of the threaded coupling proximal to the second end can have a second thread profile that is different from the first thread profile. In particular, at least two threads of the second thread profile proximate to the second end are reduced in height according to an extra machining angle. The first thread profile and the second thread profile can further be tapered according to a taper angle.

A very low carbon steel alloy is provided for use in manufacturing tubular members such as oil country tubular goods. The tubular members may be radially expanded from at least twenty percent to forty percent. Sections or joints of casing formed from the steel alloy may be installed within a wellbore and radially expanded during completion of the wellbore.

The present invention involves a system and method for producing bimetallic pipe. In one embodiment of the present invention, the method includes inserting an inner shell into an outer shell and reducing the outer shell to securely engage the inner shell by drawing the outer shell and inner shell through a die without the use of a mandrel placed in the inner shell. In another embodiment of the present invention, the method includes inserting an inner shell into an outer shell and reducing the outer shell to securely engage the inner shell by sizing the outer shell using at least one roller stand.
