The nozzle may include a main fuel passage (), a number of radial fuel ports () in communication with the main fuel passage, a prefilmer surface () in communication with the radial fuel ports, and a main purge air passage () in communication with the radial fuel ports and the prefilmer surface.

Liquid fuel nozzles for dual fuel combustors

A liquid fuel cartridge for a gas turbine fuel nozzle includes a tube having an inlet end and an outlet end with one or more fuel exit orifices; and a homogenizer located within the tube, adjacent and up-stream of the outlet end. The homogenizer is formed by a substantially-cylindrical body open at opposite ends, and a first row of circumferentially-spaced flanges projecting radially outwardly from the substantially cylindrical body, with radially-outer edges of said flanges engaged with an interior surface of the tube thereby creating a plurality of apertures for a liquid fuel and water emulsion. The homogenizer body may also be provided with a plurality of circumferentially-spaced radially-oriented orifices to promote better mixing of the fuel/water emulsion.

Liquid fuel cartridge for a fuel nozzle

A fuel nozzle assembly for a gas turbine engine is disclosed herein. The fuel nozzle assembly may include a premixing chamber formed between an outer annular shroud and an inner annular hub, a number of swirler vanes disposed about the premixing chamber between the outer annular shroud and the inner annular hub, one or more liquid fuel injectors positioned about the swirler vanes, and a flow of liquid fuel in communication with the one or more liquid fuel injectors.

Systems and methods for a multi-fuel premixing nozzle with integral liquid injectors/evaporators

A pre-film liquid fuel cartridge includes a main body having a water passage, a liquid fuel passage, a compressed air passage and a pre-film tip disposed at a downstream portion of the pre-film liquid fuel cartridge. The pre-film tip includes a forward end portion that is axially separated from an aft end portion and an inner side that extends therebetween. The inner side at least partially defines a pre-filming surface which terminates at an emulsion atomizing shear edge. The pre-film tip includes a plurality of water injection ports oriented tangentially through the pre-filming surface, a plurality of liquid fuel injection ports oriented tangentially through the pre-filming surface and a plurality of atomizing air injection ports axially oriented around the emulsion atomizing shear edge. An atomizing air shear edge is defined downstream from the emulsion atomizing shear edge and the atomizing air injection ports.

Pre-film liquid fuel cartridge

A pre-film liquid fuel cartridge () includes a primary liquid fuel passage (), a plurality of inner fuel ports () and a plurality of outer fuel ports () that are in fluid communication with the primary liquid fuel passage. An inner pre-filming surface () is defined downstream from the plurality of inner fuel ports. The inner pre-filming surface () terminates at a first shear edge (). An outer pre-filming surface () is defined downstream from the plurality of outer fuel ports. The outer pre-filming surface () terminates at a second shear edge (). The first and second shear edges are relatively oriented so that a first pre-filmed liquid fuel sheet exiting the first shear edge intersects with a second pre-filmed liquid fuel sheet exiting the second shear edge, thereby atomizing the first and second pre-filmed liquid fuel sheets.

A system includes a turbine combustor, which includes a head end portion having a head end chamber. The head end portion includes an exhaust gas path, a fuel path, and an oxidant path. The turbine combustor also includes a combustion portion having a combustion chamber disposed downstream from the head end chamber, a cap disposed between the head end chamber and the combustion chamber, and an end plate having at least one port coupled to the exhaust gas path or the oxidant path. The head end chamber is disposed axially between the cap and the end plate.

The method further includes flowing the diluent and the liquid or gaseous fuel through the liner and into a combustion chamber surrounded by the liner.

A multi-zone combustor is provided and includes a pre-mixer configured to output a first mixture to a primary zone of a combustor section and a stepped center body disposable in an annulus defined within the pre-mixer. The stepped center body includes an outer body configured to output at a first radial and axial step a second mixture to a secondary zone of the combustor section and an inner body disposable in an annulus defined within the outer body and configured to output at a second radial and axial step a third mixture to a tertiary zone of the combustor section.

A fuel nozzle for a combustor includes a burner tube and a center nozzle assembly disposed within the burner tube. The center nozzle assembly includes a center body that at least partially defines a cooling air flow passage through the center nozzle assembly. A premix flow passage is defined between the burner tube and the center nozzle assembly. A tip assembly is disposed at a downstream end of the center body. The tip assembly includes an impingement plate, and a cap that is disposed downstream from the impingement plate. The impingement plate and the cap at least partially define a cooling plenum therebetween. An insert passage extends through the impingement plate and a cooling flow outlet extends through the cap. A plurality of cooling ports extends through the impingement plate to provide for fluid communication between the cooling air flow passage and the cooling plenum.

A combustor section of a gas turbine includes a combustor liner, a sleeve and a fuel-air mixing tube. The combustor liner defines a combustion chamber. The sleeve surrounds the combustor liner. The combustor liner and the sleeve define an annular flow space. The fuel-air mixing tube is configured to channel a mixture of fuel and air and includes an inlet and an outlet. The inlet is in fluid communication with an exterior of the sleeve, and the outlet is in fluid communication with the combustion chamber. The combustor casing encloses the combustor section upstream relative to the inlet of the mixing tube and extends downstream. The sleeve and the combustor casing define a discharge air space. The discharge space is in fluid communication with the mixing tube. The fuel supplying device is located exteriorly of the combustor casing and is configured to inject fuel into the mixing tube.
