This invention relates to an apparatus in fishing reels with a line guiding mechanism including a double-threaded screw and a bearing box. According to a preferred embodiment, the bearing box displays at least two diametrically located resilient projections extending from its outer surface, and the portion of the reel frame for fixing of the bearing box has an opening through which the bearing box is insertable to its operative position for journaling one end of the double-threaded screw, and two slots diametrically placed on either side of the opening for locking cooperation with the projections, the apparatus being such that the resilient projections of the bearing box, on insertion of the bearing box in the axial direction of the double-threaded screw through the opening towards the correct operative position relative to the frame portion, are moved in through the slots which are so disposed that the projections, on the above-mentioned movement and engagement, are first, through engagement with the defining edges of the slots, resiliently bent or compressed and then, in conjunction with the arrival of the bearing box at the operative position, spring back into locking engagement with the frame portion.

This invention relates to a centrifugal brake mechanism in a spinning reel for braking a line spool which includes a shaft with a coupling member for coupling the spool to a coupling member in the transmission of the spinning reel, the braking mechanism including a hub member mounted on the shaft with a guide pin holder which supports, on radially directed guide pins, shiftable bodies which are disposed, on rotation of the spool, to be shifted, under the influence of the centrifugal force, radially outwardly on the guide pins to be pressed against a braking surface. According to a preferred embodiment, the hub member with the guide pin holder is supported on the shaft axially inside the coupling member of the shaft, the guide pin holder consisting of at least two guide pin support limbs projecting substantially radially from the hub and having end projections directed axially from the spool, and relatively short guide pins which are supported on the limb projections.

Centrifugal brake mechanism

This invention relates to a gear wheel casing for mounting in an apparatus, particularly a fishing reel. According to a preferred embodiment, the casing is in the form of a capsule comprising a cylindrical wall dimensioned to accommodate a single gear wheel and having an opening which is sufficiently wide to permit mounting of the gear wheel in the capsule but is sufficiently small to provide the capsule with a pronounced tendency to retain a gear wheel placed therein for permitting easy handling of the capsule and the gear wheel as a unit. Moreover, the cylindrical capsule wall has such an inner diameter that a gear wheel for which the capsule is dimensioned, projects, after its insertion in the capsule, through the opening a sufficiently great portion of its circumference to permit engagement with another gear wheel outwardly of the capsule which also comprises end walls for axially retaining the gear wheel, at least one of the end walls having an opening which is provided to permit insertion of a gear wheel shaft.

Gear wheel casing

This invention relates to a coupling mechanism with means for disengagement and automatic reengagement of the spool in a spinning reel. The coupling mechanism comprises mating coupling members, one of which forms a driven coupling member supported by the spool and the other forms a driving coupling member supported by a gear which is rotatable by a crank. According to the preferred embodiment, the spool of the reel is, together with its coupling member, rotatably journaled in the spinning reel independent of the unit which comprises the driving coupling member and guide means, and this unit is, in the disengagement position of the driving coupling member, supported completely free from contact in relation to the spool and to elements connected to the spool, with the driving coupling member axially directed for shifting to the engagement position.
