A method by a virtual network device in a virtualized network to support shared caching in the virtualized network. The method includes receiving a request message for content, determining whether the content is available in a shared virtual cache, wherein the shared virtual cache is shared by a plurality of virtual network devices in the virtualized network, obtaining the content from an upstream network device in response to a determination that the content is not available in the shared virtual cache, storing the content in the shared virtual cache to make the content available to the plurality of virtual network devices, and sending a response message containing the content towards an originator of the request message for the content.

Shared caching in a virtualized network

An access node of the cellular network determines a correlation of an identifier of a user equipment with an entry of a Pending Interest Table maintained by an Information Centric Networking node. The Pending Interest Table comprises an entry for each data object having a pending Information Centric Networking request at the Information Centric Networking node. Based on the correlation, the access node controls a connection of the user equipment with the cellular network. This may involve deciding whether to release the user equipment to idle mode or paging of the user equipment.

Correlation of user equipment identity to information centric networking request

There is provided a method in a serving node of an information centric network, the method comprising: receiving an interest message referring to a first content object from a requesting node; processing the name of the first content object and the payload of the received interest message to generate the name of a second content object; and replying to the interest message with a redirect message, wherein the redirect message comprises the name of the second content object.

Request redirection in an information centric network

An access node () of the cellular network determines a correlation of an identifier of a user equipment () with an entry of a Pending Interest Table maintained by an Information Centric Networking node (). The invention relates to methods, a wireless communication device and a network node for enabling establishment of at least one Packet Data Network (PDN) connection between a wireless communication device and a communication network. In a first aspect of the invention, a method performed by a wireless communication device of enabling establishment of at least one Packet Data Network (PDN) connection&#x2014;with a communication network is provided. The method comprises submitting, to a node of the communication network, a request to establish the PDN connection, the request being configured to comprise an indication that the request pertains to establishing a PDN connection for transporting Information Centric Networking (ICN) data.

Distinguishing ICN from non-ICN traffic in a mobile network

An access node () of a cellular network receives an information centric networking request of a user equipment () for a data object. The access node forwards the information centric networking request to a local gateway () associated with the access node (). The local gateway () maintains a pending interest table including an entry for each data object having a pending information centric networking request at the local gateway (). In response to the user equipment () moving from a coverage area of the access node () to a coverage area of a further access node (), the access node () and the further access node () perform a handover procedure. The further access node () is associated with a further local gateway () maintaining a further pending interest table. The further pending interest table includes an entry for each data object having a pending information centric networking request at the further local gateway (). The handover procedure initiates alignment of the pending interest table and the further pending interest table with respect to at least one entry associated with the user equipment ().

A node () in an information centric network (ICN) receives a first identifier associated with an information object. The node () causes creation of a virtual node () in the ICN, for holding a mapping between a second identifier and the first identifier. The second identifier is assigned to a copy of the information object stored in the ICN. The node () causes creation of the virtual node () such that the mapping is arranged to cease after a predetermined event. The virtual node () is created with the sole purpose of providing copies of the information object to a small number of requestors (), and possibly to just one requestor (). Ceasing the mapping after delivery of the one copy, or the few copies, of the information object prevents unauthorized retrieval of the information object.

Access control in an information centric network

A client node, a proxy node, and methods therein, as well as a protocol and a computer program for enabling interception of request messages in connection-less protocols. A primary request addressed to a server node is intercepted by a proxy node creating a secondary request based on said request and forwards this secondary request towards the server node. The proxy node receives a secondary response, being a response to the secondary request, creates a primary response based on the secondary response and forwards this primary response to the node from which the primary request was received. A response can thus be sent along the same path as a corresponding request was sent.

A method for generating a filename for a chunk of streamed video content is disclosed. The method comprises performing a cryptographic hash function on data associated with the chunk of video content (A) and setting the output hash value of the cryptographic hash function as the chunk filename (B). A method for recording broadcast video content by a user device is also disclosed. The method comprises receiving a chunk of broadcast video content (), generating a filename for the received chunk of video content () and storing the generated filename in a user specific storage (). A method for broadcasting a chunk of video content is also disclosed. The method comprises generating metadata corresponding to the chunk of video content (), the metadata comprising at least one parameter for generating a file name for the chunk of video content, and broadcasting the generated metadata with the chunk of video content (). Methods and apparatus for naming video content chunks

A method for enabling establishment of at least one Packet Data Network (PDN) connection between a wireless communication device and a communication network, and a wireless communication device performing the method of enabling establishment of at least one PDN connection with a communication network. The method comprises detecting whether connectivity to an Information Centric Networking (ICN) network is available via the at least one PDN connection for transporting ICN data.

ICN connectivity awareness

A set of globally-reachable attachment registers is provided for interconnected communications networks and hosts. At least some of the networks and hosts each has a corresponding attachment register. The attachment registers are not located with their respective network or host. Information is stored in the attachment registers that establishes one or more logical links between the attachment registers. The information in certain ones of the attachment registers is used to perform one or more network communication functions. Non-limiting example functions include location registration and update, name to global locator resolution, routing, multi-homing, dynamic ISP selection, and handover.

Name-address management and routing in communication networks

The present invention relates to a method and arrangements for updating the mapping of traffic in the form of a set of service level aggregate flows (SLS, SLSM) to a set of partial resources (B, BN) for forwarding the traffic in a communications network (). Each service level aggregate flow corresponds to a service level associated with a set of service requirements. Information regarding traffic characteristics of each service level aggregate flow and performance of the set of network resources are obtained. Based on this information, the mapping of the set of service level aggregate flows to the set of network resources is updated to achieve a more efficient utilization of the set of network resources, while fulfilling the set of service requirements.
