Shown and described is a handle for a fish spear, the fish spear comprising a one-piece or multi-piece spear rod and an elastic band as a tensioning element, the spear rod having a spear tip at one end and the elastic band being attachable to the other end of the spear rod to tension the elastic band along the spear rod with a user's hand, wherein the handle is adapted to releasably secure the tensioned elastic band and includes a trigger mechanism for manually releasing the elastic band from the handle.

Illustrated and described is an anastomotic device for forming anastomoses, in particular of intestine anastomoses, with an introducer sheath for insertion into a body lumen, wherein a thrust bearing part is provided for the head section and within the head section an extendable and retractable knife and a retaining pin are arranged. According to the invention at least the actuating part and the head section of inter-connected fluid supply channel and at the head section at least one fluid outlet connected with the fluid supply channel are provided for producing a fluidic connection between the actuating part and the head section while inserting the head section into the body lumen and/or when pushing the introducer sheath into the body lumen, in which the fluidic connection is configured for discharging an inflation liquid into the body lumen.

A method of inserting a circular stapling apparatus into a body lumen includes inserting a distal portion of a shell assembly of the circular stapling apparatus in an entrance to a body lumen, introducing an insufflation fluid through an aperture defined in an outer surface of the shell assembly, and inserting a remainder of the shell assembly and a portion of an elongated member into the body lumen. Introducing the insufflation fluid through the aperture flows insufflation fluid into the body lumen.

Methods of inserting a circular stapling apparatus into a body lumen

A method of performing a surgical anastomosis is disclosed. The method includes providing an anastomotic device including a fluid supply channel extending between a handle assembly and a head assembly. The method also includes positioning the head assembly of the anastomotic device adjacent a hollow tissue organ, inserting the head assembly of the anastomotic device into the hollow tissue organ, and discharging an inflation fluid through at least one fluid outlet and into the hollow tissue organ to insufflate at least a portion of the hollow tissue organ.
