A change-gear transmission system includes a transmission that can be switched between multiple gears, a gearshift lever for selecting between the gears of the transmission, an automatically actuatable clutch, which is arranged in a drive train in series with the transmission and a control unit for automatically opening the clutch while maintaining a gear engaged in the transmission when a condition for the transition into coasting or gliding mode is fulfilled. The control unit is configured to detect a touch of the gearshift lever by the driver, to open the clutch only when no touch of the gearshift lever is detected, and further in the case that in the coasting or gliding mode, a touch of the gearshift lever is detected, to close the clutch while maintaining the engaged gear.

Control of a change-gear transmission

Disclosed herein are liquid-cooled battery systems configured to prevent cell-to-cell thermal propagation. In one embodiment, a system includes a section configured to generate and store electrical energy through heat-producing electro-chemical reactions. A cooling system may be configured to generate a flow of a liquid coolant through the battery system to remove heat produced by the battery. Cooling fins may be configured to receive the flow of the liquid coolant through a primary coolant channel and to transfer heat from the battery to the liquid coolant. The cooling fins may also include a secondary coolant channel configured to be at least partially filled with a melting material configured to obstruct the liquid coolant from exiting through the aperture at temperatures below a temperature threshold. When the melting material melts, it permits some of the liquid coolant to exit the cooling fin and wet and cool the adjacent battery section.

Prevention of cell-to-cell thermal propagation within a battery system using passive cooling

The present disclosure relates to reducing formation of condensate in a battery compartment using a dehumidification chamber in which air is conditioned prior to entering the battery compartment. In one embodiment, a cooling system may be configured to produce a flow of coolant. The dehumidification chamber configured to receive a flow of ambient air from an environment. A heat transfer device may be in thermal communication with the dehumidification chamber and configured to receive the flow of coolant. The heat transfer device may produce a flow of conditioned air from a thermal interaction between the flow of coolant and the flow of ambient air. The battery compartment may house a battery and may receive the flow of conditioned air and the flow of coolant. In some embodiments, the flow of coolant may pass through the heat transfer device before the flow of coolant passes through the battery compartment.

Dehumidification chamber for battery systems and related methods

Disclosed herein are various systems and methods for controlling humidity in batteries to reduce formation of condensate in a battery compartment. In one embodiment, a system consistent with the present disclosure may include a cooling system configured to produce a flow of coolant. A battery compartment may house a battery and may separate the battery from an environment. The flow of coolant may pass into the battery compartment and may be used to cool the battery. The battery compartment may include a vent configured to permit a flow of environmental air to enter the battery compartment. A diffusion barrier may be in fluid communication with the vent and configured to deliver the flow of environment air to the battery compartment. The diffusion barrier may decrease diffusion of water vapor from the environment into the battery compartment.

A battery module includes a plurality of battery cells. Each battery cell includes an anode having an anode active area, a cathode having a cathode active area, and an ion-conducting separator interposed between the anode active area and the cathode active area. A first subset of the battery cells are arranged in parallel wired battery cell pairs. Each parallel wired battery cell pair of the first subset has two adjacent battery cells with a cooling fin interposed between the two adjacent battery cells.
