A high performance cold plate cooling device including multiple, relatively thin plates, each having patterns formed thereon that, as arranged within the device, cause turbulence in a fluid passing within the cooling device. Adjacent plates within the cooling device are arranged such that fluid channels within their patterns are arranged crosswise. One or more barriers extending at least a portion of the length of the device separate the crosswise channels into two or more flow sections and increase uniformity of thermal performance over the active plate area. Manufacturing of the device includes stacking the plates in an alternating fashion such that the channels within the pattern of each plate are crosswise with respect to the channels in the pattern of an adjacent plate and adjacent barrier walls abut.

Contact cooling device

Method of manufacturing a contact cooling device

The present invention provides a system that generates particles of mist, freezes the mist particles, and delivers a mixture of a gas and the solid mist particles to an external application.

Mist generation, freezing, and delivery system

A flat tube cold plate assembly has a channel plate having an opening therethrough defining a flow path. A plurality of flat tubes is retained within the opening in the channel plate along the flow path. A plurality of fins extends within the interior of the flat tube. An upper cover plate and a lower cover plate are fixed over the channel plate with the flat tube disposed therein, for example, by brazing. The flat tube may be readily formed by an extrusion process. The opening in the channel plate may be readily formed by a process such as laser cutting, stamping, or etching.

Flat tube cold plate assembly

A cold plate and a method of forming the cold plate are provided that efficiently and cost effectively cools electrical components. The cold plate includes a flattened tube formed from a circular extruded tube to have a top surface and a bottom surface that are substantially parallel and contiguously connected by rounded corners and defining an interior space. The circular extruded tube includes a plurality of ins extending into the interior space form inner walls thereof to form a plurality of channels in said flattened tube between said fins for defining a cooling liquid passage therethrough. The fins may extend parallel to the direction that the flattened tube extends, or extend at a predetermined angle to the direction that the flattened tube extends. Also, the fins associated with the top surface may extend at an angle to the fins associated with the bottom surface to form a plurality of intersecting points which form a torturous fluid flow path.

Flattened tube cold plate for liquid cooling electrical components

A low thermal resistance, low cost cooling or heating system and method of constructing the disclosed cooling system. The system may be formed by pressing a tube into a groove in a plate without the use of interface materials or epoxy. The disclosed system includes a plate having a channel adapted to receive a tube, such that the channel holds the tube in place after the tube is press fitted into the channel, thus forming an effective cooling or heating system without the need for addition of epoxy or interface material between the tube and the plate. One or more electronic components to be cooled or heated may be attached to both sides of the disclosed cooling system with equivalent cooling effectiveness. Operation of the disclosed system involves flowing an appropriate fluid through the tube that has been press fitted into the plate.

Tube-in-plate cooling or heating plate

Cold plates, permanently plumbed into card cage, cool circuit boards that are equipped with personality plates to improve thermal transfer. The personality plates have a contoured surface that is the complement of the circuit board's landscape. The personality plate made of heat transmissive material therefore contacts each heat generating component, regardless of its height. The opposite surface of the personality plate is flat, and, when installed with the circuit board in the card cage, lies parallel to the surfaces of the cold plate. A card ejector applies force on the entire board bringing the flat surfaces into intimate contact for excellent heat transfer. The assembly of circuit board and personality plates is augmented by interposing thermal interface material at each contact surface and fastening this assembly into a unit.
