A solid inkjet web printer for reducing wrinkles on a web including a solid ink jet engine for jetting a patterned layer of solid jettable ink and a system having a processor, and a spreader, the spreader having a pressure roller and a spreader roller forming a nip and means for adjusting the force applied at the nip. The processor controls the adjustment of the force applied by the pressure and spreader rollers to the printed portion on the web causing the spreader to reduce the force when the non-image portion is in the nip. A sensor for providing a signal to the processor indicates the location of the image and non-image portions of the web.

Wrinkle elimination for solid inkjet web printer

A controlled fuser assembly for a reproduction apparatus. The fuser assembly includes a fuser member for fusing a marking particle image to a receiver member and a cooling system for controlling the temperature of the fuser system. Optional external heater rollers have a heat transfer surface adapted to be selectively engaged with the fuser member, and a device for heating said heat transfer surfaces. A mechanism is provided for controlling the heat transfer with the fuser member to selectively change the amount of heat transferred from the fuser.

A toner fusing system for fixing toner to paper. This system includes a fuser member for contacting and heating the toner in the fusing process. The fuser member has a fuser base, a fluoroelastomer fusing surface layer at least 38 microns thick, and a cushion layer between the fuser base and the fusing surface layer. This system utilizes external heating as the primary source of heat energy for the fusing process.

A fusing apparatus for fusing toner images onto a substrate. The fusing apparatus includes a heated first fusing member, a second timing member and a fusing mix formed by the first and second members. A substrate carrying and unfused toner image on a first on a first side thereof is routed through the fusing nip such that the unfused toner image directly faces the heated first member, and the second side thereof directly faces the second fusing member. In order to prevent melting or remelting of a toner image on such second side, the fusing apparatus includes a device for cooling and maintaining the temperature of the second fusing member at a point below the melting temperature of toner particles forming the image on such second side.
