The disclosure relates to systems and methods for sector-to-sector and die-to-die clock synchronization in programmable logic devices. The methods and systems may employ phase difference detector and programmable delay elements to minimize skews in the clock tree and facilitate timing closure of time-critical paths and increase in operating frequencies.

Clock synchronization in multi-die field programmable gate array devices

The present disclosure provides systems and methods for improving operation of integrated circuit device including a logic region, which includes a plurality of logic gates that operate based at least in part on a clock signal to facilitate providing a target function, and a clock tree, which includes a clock switch block that receives a source clock signal from a clock source and a branch communicatively coupled between the clock switch block and the logic region, in which the branch operates to provide the clock signal to the logic region based at least in part on the source clock signal and the branch includes a tunable delay buffer that operates to apply a delay to the clock signal based at least in part on a clock skew expected to be introduced by the branch.

Methods and devices for reducing clock skew in bidirectional clock trees

An adjustable level shifter with native and kicker transistors is provided. The level shifter provides high switching speeds, adjustable output voltage levels, and low jitter. The level shifter has first and second thick-oxide p-channel metal-oxide-semiconductor (PMOS) transistors, first and second thick-oxide native n-channel metal-oxide-semiconductor (NMOS) transistors, and first and second thin-oxide NMOS transistors. The first PMOS transistor, first native transistor, and first NMOS transistor are connected in series and the second PMOS transistor, second native transistor, and second NMOS transistor are connected in series. An input data signal and an inverted version of the input data signal drive the gates of the thin-oxide NMOS transistors. A node located between the first PMOS transistor and first native transistor is connected to an output data terminal. The kicker transistor is connected in parallel with the first PMOS transistor.
