The present invention proposes a wavelength division multiplexing-passive optical network (WDM-PON) system which transmits downstream data to an optical network unit (ONU) as an optical line termination (OLT) receives seed light from a spectrum-sliced external light source module. One characteristic of the proposed WDM-PON system is that optical transmitters of the OLT and ONU are operated regardless of optical wavelength. Another characteristic of the proposed WDM-PON system is that a conventional TDMA-PON (E-PON or G-PON) ONU can be accommodated without a change.

Wavelength division multiplexing-passive optical network system

An optical backhaul network for a wireless broadband service is provided. The optical backhaul network for a wireless broadband service includes: a plurality of optical network units for outputting an uplink optical signal having a multiplexed wavelength; an optical line termination for outputting a downlink optical signal of a single mode in order to transmit the downlink optical signal to the plurality of the optical network units in a broadcasting form; and a plurality of remote nodes for outputting a part of the downlink optical signal to the plurality of the optical network units and for outputting the uplink optical signal to the optical line termination. Optical backhaul network for wireless broadband service

Provided is a time division multiple access over wavelength division multiplexed passive optical network (TDM-over-WDM-PON) system. According to the TDM-over-WDM-PON system, a downstream optical signal is separated according to a wavelength in a remote node, transmitted to an optical amplifying device located in subscriber equipment, amplified in the optical amplifying device, transmitted back to the remote node, and then transmitted to the subscriber equipment. Also, an upstream optical signal is transmitted to a wavelength converting device located in the subscriber equipment from the remote node, wavelength-converted in the wavelength converting device, returned back to the remote node, and then transmitted to a central office.

In detail, a channel is generated by which the OLT makes a reciprocal security capability agreement with the ONU that wants to set a security channel in a discovery interval and then automatically registers the ONU with the security capability agreement. The security channel is set by which the OLT distributes an encryption key for the security with the ONU completed with the security capability agreement. A renewal point of the encryption key is shared by transmitting a message indicative of a time to change the encryption key between the OLT and the ONU both completed with the encryption key distribution.

A time division multiplex (TDM)/wavelength division multiple access (WDMA) passive optical network (PON) device includes a base station terminal, a wavelength splitter, and a subscriber terminal optical transceiver. The base station terminal includes a transmitter, an optical circulator transmitting the optical signals output from the transmitter to an optical distribution network, and a receiver demultiplexing wavelength division multiplexed upstream signals from the optical distribution network through the optical circulator. The wavelength splitter splits the downstream signals from the base station terminal to subscriber ports corresponding to wavelengths and multiplexes the optical signals received from each of the subscriber ports to the base station terminal. The subscriber terminal optical transceiver receives the downstream signals from the wavelength splitter and reuses the received downstream signals as optical sources for upstream signals.

TDMA passive optical network OLT system for broadcast service

Provided are method and apparatus for dynamically allocating unlink bandwidth in Ethernet PON. In the method and apparatus, report value, which are received for each logical link identifications (LLID), is controlled to be less than a maximum gate value set for each LLID in sequence for all of LLIDs without a predetermined interval. A gate having a length corresponding to the restricted report value is generated. LLIDs are grouped into classes and processing is done class by class. For each class processing, if maximum processing time is reached or maximum total allocation is reached, the processing is switched to a lower class. Also each class processing, if any higher class has its maximum yield processing time or maximum yield allocated gate reached, the processing is switched to that higher class.

A system and a method for providing a secured transmission through an authenticated encryption for each ONU in downlink transmission of an OLT in GPON are provided. The GPON system includes an OLT for generating a GTC downlink frame by receiving data from an external service provider and ONUs for receiving the GTC downlink frame from the OLT and processing the received GTC downlink frame. The OLT performs the authenticated encryption for the generated GTC downlink frame according to the ONU by including an authentication generator and the ONU determines whether the GTC downlink frame is allowed to be processed or not by checking the authentication of the received GTC downlink frame through an authentication checker.

An apparatus and method for managing traffic using a VID in EPON are provided. The apparatus includes a MAC lookup table, a service classification policy table, a service control policy table, a MAC lookup unit, a first and second classification module, a VID learning unit and a first and second service control module. The apparatus classifies all packets of up/downlink transmission flow using a VID into a VID unit, through the first and second classification modules and manages traffic thereof according to the parameters thereof through the first and second service control modules.
