A display device includes a source device to output image data in a normal mode and in a re-synchronization mode, and refrain from outputting the image data in a panel self-refresh mode, and a sink device to perform a displaying operation based on the image data in the normal mode, store the image data at a time when an operating mode is changed from the normal mode to the PSR mode, perform the displaying operation based on the still image data in the PSR mode, and perform a frame-timing synchronization operation in the re-synchronization mode in response to a PSR-exiting command, wherein the frame-timing synchronization operation includes a first period in which a length-change of a vertical blank period is measured, a second period in which a temporary panel on-off clock is determined, and a third period in which the temporary panel on-off clock is applied to the adjustment-target frame.

An display device includes a display panel including a plurality of pixels; a scan driver configured to provide scan signals to the pixels; a data driver configured to provide data signals to the pixels; a look-up table (LUT), wherein an efficiency curve indicating a relationship between an accumulated driving time and an efficiency value is stored in the LUT; a lifespan register, wherein an efficiency changing region for deriving the efficiency value of each of the pixels from the LUT is stored in the lifespan register and the lifespan register is configured to accumulatively store deterioration data of the pixels; and a controller configured to derive the accumulated driving time from the lifespan register, to update the efficiency changing region and the LUT based on the accumulated driving time, and to convert input image data into output image data using the efficiency changing region and the LUT.

Organic light emitting display device and method of driving the same

Provided are an image signal compensation apparatus and a liquid crystal display (LCD) including the same. The image signal compensation apparatus includes a lookup table (LUT) and an image signal compensation unit. The LUT includes reference data that corresponds to each combination of first and second reference gray levels and is arranged in a matrix. The image signal compensation unit receives first and second image signals, receives reference data corresponding to the first and second image signals from the LUT, and compensates the second image signal using the reference data. The reference data includes diagonal reference data located on a diagonal line in the matrix, and at least one diagonal reference data from among the diagonal reference data has a different value from a corresponding combination of the first and second reference gray levels.

Image signal compensation apparatus and liquid crystal display including the same

A display unit including pixels which display an image according to an image data signal transferred corresponding to each of the pixels, and a controller to receive and convert an external input video signal to transfer a luminance conversion data signal corresponding to the respective pixels. The controller includes: an input image data to receive the external input video signal; a scale factor calculation unit to determine at least one control factor for luminance conversion with respect to an input video signal corresponding to the pixels received from the input image data receiving unit; and a luminance data conversion unit to convert luminance data with respect to the respective pixels using the at least one determined control factor and to output the luminance conversion data signal.

Display device and method of driving the same

A display apparatus includes a display panel, a timing control part and a data driving part. The display panel is divided into N display areas. The timing control part includes a serializing part to serializing N data received in parallel to generate an N-th frame data, a overdriving part to select one of the N-th frame data and a previous frame data stored depending on whether the received data are normal and to compensate the selected frame data to generate a compensation frame data, and an interface part to divide the compensation frame data and to output the N compensation data. A data driving part includes N data driving circuits to generate data driving voltages corresponding to the N compensation data to output the data driving voltage to the N display areas where N is a natural number.

A liquid crystal display includes a pixel, a memory configured to store a plurality of look-up tables, an image signal modification unit configured to obtain a modified look-up table based on a first look-up table and a second look-up table among the plurality of look-up tables and modify an input image signal based on the modified look-up table to generate a modified image signal, and a data driver configured to convert the modified image signal generated by the image signal modification unit into a data voltage and to supply the data voltage to the pixel. The liquid crystal display includes a plurality of regions. The liquid crystal display is configured to maintain temperature information of the plurality of regions, and the image signal modification unit is configured to modify the input image signal based on the temperature information.

A method for generating data for driving a display panel is provided in which first compensation data of (N+k) bits, corresponding to grayscale data of N bits, is generated, wherein values of N and k are natural numbers. A first gamma curve is applied to the first compensation data of (N+k) bits. Second compensation data of (N+k) bits, corresponding to the grayscale data of N bits, is generated. A second gamma curve is applied to the second compensation data of (N+k) bits. The first compensation data or the second compensation data are selectively output and converted into analog data signals. The analog data signals are output to a data line. Accordingly, the first compensation data and second compensation data includes a multidomain structure which improves display quality. A data driving circuit and a display device including the data driving circuit for performing the method are also provided.

A semiconductor device includes a circuit board including a ground portion, and a semiconductor package disposed on the circuit board. The semiconductor package includes an external connecting pad and an exposed pad. The exposed pad and the ground portion are electrically connected at a first surface of the exposed pad. A semiconductor chip is disposed on a second surface of the exposed pad and electrically connected to the external connecting pad. The first surface of the exposed pad is located external to the semiconductor package, and the second surface of the exposed pad is located within the semiconductor package. A test pad is disposed on the semiconductor chip and is electrically connected to the exposed pad.

A timing controller includes a receiver, an internal clock generator, a first frequency converter, a first selector and a control signal generator. The receiver receives an image signal and a main clock signal having a first spread spectrum frequency from an external system, converts the main clock signal to a converted main clock signal and the image signal to a first converted image signal, and outputs the converted main clock signal as a first clock signal having a plurality of frequencies. The internal clock generator multiplies the frequencies of the first clock signal and generates a second clock signal having a frequency band within the multiplied frequencies of the first clock signal. A method for correcting a defect pixel includes extracting a pixel value of a central pixel, and pixel values of each of a plurality of neighboring pixels around the central pixel in an image sensor by using a color filter; calculating reference levels by multiplying each the pixel value of the plurality of neighboring pixels by a weight value; calculating a total number of cases where the pixel value of the central pixel is larger or smaller than the reference level as a first comparison value or second comparison value, respectively; determining the central pixel is a defect pixel where the first or second comparison value is larger than a first or second control register value, by comparing the comparison values with the control register values, respectively; and correcting the central pixel determined as the defect pixel.

Because signal lines can be shortened, heat generated by the display apparatus may be decreased and image quality of the display apparatus may be improved.

A liquid crystal display includes a timing controller and a liquid crystal panel. The timing controller sequentially receives first through third primitive image signals and sequentially outputs first through third corrected image signals. The liquid crystal panel displays an image based on the first through third corrected image signals. The timing controller generates a first converted image signal having a first gray level based on the first primitive image signal and stores the first converted image signal. The second primitive image signal has a second gray level and the timing controller generates a second converted image signal having a third gray level higher than the second gray level when the second gray level is lower than the first gray level. The timing controller generates the third corrected image signal using the second converted image signal and the third primitive image signal.

A liquid crystal display system including a signal processing device uses interpolation to generate an intermediate image frame using previous image frame data and present image frame data. The system converts data of the intermediate image frame into transposed image data that is to be used to drive a liquid crystal display panel and display a corresponding image. The transposed image data and the present image data are subjected to a prespecified DCC process (dynamic capacitance compensation process) to thereby generate respective first and second compensation image data. Since the first compensation image data is generated based on the transposed image data and the transposition is configured to prevent over-compensation by the DCC process, over-compensation by the dynamic capacitance compensation process can be reduced or prevented.

Signal processing device for liquid crystal display panel and liquid crystal display including the signal processing device

A display apparatus includes a display panel, a timing controller and a data driver. The display panel includes a plurality of unit pixels respectively including a first sub-pixel and a second sub-pixel. The timing controller includes a first compensation unit which receives grayscale data corresponding to the unit pixels and generates first compensation data of the grayscale data using offset values of first sample compensation data sampled from a first gamma curve. The data driver includes a second compensation unit which generates second compensation data of the grayscale data using second sample compensation data sampled from a second gamma curve and the first compensation data. Accordingly, the first and second compensation data comprise color compensation data, which improve image quality. A method for driving the display panel of the display apparatus is also provided.
