There is provided a water exchange meter being capable of automatically and continuously measuring the water exchange at the surface water/sediment interface in which a saturated vertical hydraulic conductivity of the sediment from the hydraulic head difference between a chamber and a storage pipe at a measurement location is measured, and after the measurement of the saturated vertical hydraulic conductivity, while the measurement device used in the measurement of the vertical hydraulic conductivity is maintained, a vertical hydraulic gradient between upper and lower portions of a chamber is continuously measured in situ.

Measurement device for water exchanges across water/sediment interface

A permeameter for in-situ measurement of saturated hydraulic conductivity is presented. The permeameter includes a chamber fixedly installed into streambed sediment such that the inside of the chamber is filled with a medium, sediment at water-sediment interface. First and second hydraulic head-measuring lines are respectively connected to upper and lower portions of an outer circumferential surface of the chamber, these are designed for measuring a hydraulic head difference of the inside of the chamber. A flexible tube is interconnected the chamber with the storage pipe. A storage pipe is designed to regulate a hydraulic head difference from the chamber and to measure a quantity and a flow rate of water introduced from the chamber under the streambed.

Permeameter for in-situ measurement of saturated hydraulic conductivity

The present invention relates to an automatic seepage meter for measuring groundwater-surface water exchange in a mixed zone of stream. The present invention includes: the chamber installed in streambed sediment; the device for measuring amount of groundwater recharge through a change in water level accompanied by discharging water in the water in case of losing stream; and the device for measuring amount of groundwater discharge through a change in water level according to an increased water from the chamber to the water bath for measuring discharge in case of gaining stream.

Sequential sampler for runoff water

The present invention relates to a sequential groundwater sampler and a sampling method thereof, and more particularly, the sampler is constructed with a first pipe, a second pipe, a first cylinder unit and a second cylinder unit. The first pipe plays a role as a container for vacuum sample bottle. The first pipe is fixedly inserted to the second pipe. The second pipe is connected to the two cylinders to be moved up and down vertically while surrounding the first pipe by an advance and retreat of the second cylinder unit. The second pipe plays a role of, passing a syringe needle amounted at the end of a first piston in the first cylinder unit through a rubber plug of a vacuum sample bottle at the bottom end of the first pipe, or separating the syringe needle from the vacuum sample bottle, by an advance and retreat of the first cylinder unit. If the second cylinder and the first cylinder sequentially advance, groundwater is injected to the vacuum sample bottle at the bottom end of the first pipe. If the first cylinder unit and the second cylinder unit sequentially retreat, the vacuum sample bottle completed with injection of the sample is separated downward from the first pipe gravity. The present invention is related to the sampler and the method that sequentially sampling groundwater at a particular depth in a well through repeating above processes.

Sequential groundwater sampler and sampling method thereof

There are provided an apparatus and method for groundwater sampling, using a hydraulic coupler according to the present invention. In more particular, in the groundwater sampler which is positioned at multiple depths within a groundwater borehole to simultaneously take groundwater samples at the multiple depths, couplers are each connected to both ends of a water sampling pipe made of a metal pipe material. In case of positioning the sampler at a targeted depth, a socket and a plug forming each coupler are connected to each other, so that the both ends of the water sampling pipe&#x2014;to lead groundwater to freely flow in/out. Thereafter, at the targeted depth, the sockets or plugs are permitted to be separated in the couplers at the both ends of the water sampling pipe by using a lift device, so that the both ends of the water sampling pipe are sealed to simultaneously taking groundwater samples at multiple depths.

Apparatus and method for groundwater sampling using hydraulic couplers

There is provided an apparatus for injecting a tracer within a groundwater observation well, which is capable of sequentially performing a tracer test by depth by injecting the tracer to a predetermined depth within the groundwater observation well. More particularly, the present invention relates to an apparatus and method for instantaneously injecting a tracer to a groundwater well, whereby opening and closing of a container receiving the tracer is controlled by using a pneumatic cylinder and the tracer on the ground is supplied to the container, so that the tracer is repeatedly carried and injected to a specific depth in a well.
