Aspects of a method and system for sharing low noise amplifier (LNA) circuitry in a single chip Bluetooth and wireless local area network (WLAN) system are disclosed. Aspects of the system may comprise a chip with integrated WLAN and Bluetooth radios. RF signals may be received via a single antenna coupled to a shared LNA integrated in chip. When WLAN signals are received they are communicated from the shared LNA to a subsequent amplification stage integrated within the WLAN radio. When Bluetooth signals are received they are communicated from the shared LNA to a subsequent amplification stage that comprises a transconductance amplifier integrated within the WLAN radio and an LNA load integrated within the Bluetooth radio. Gains in the LNAs, the transconductance amplifier, and/or the subsequent WLAN amplification stage may be dynamically adjusted. Outputs from the subsequent amplification stages may be communicated to mixers for further processing.

Method and system for sharing low noise amplifier circuitry in a single chip bluetooth and wireless local area network

Aspects of a method and system for single chip WLAN and Bluetooth radios on a single CMOS substrate are presented. Aspects of the system may include a WLAN receiver circuit within a substrate of a single chip that enables reception of WLAN signals, and a Bluetooth receiver circuit within the same substrate that enables reception of Bluetooth signals. The WLAN receiver circuit and Bluetooth receiver circuit may utilize a single low noise amplifier circuit that enables reception of the WLAN signals and Bluetooth signals. Aspects of the system may also include a WLAN transmitter circuit within a substrate of a single chip that enables transmission of WLAN signals, and a Bluetooth transmitter circuit within the same substrate that enables transmission of Bluetooth signals. The WLAN transmitter circuit and Bluetooth transmitter circuit may utilize a single power amplifier circuit that enables transmission of the WLAN signals and Bluetooth signals.

Method and system for single chip WLAN and bluetooth radios on a single CMOS substrate

Aspects of a method and system for simultaneous signal transmission on multiple selected frequencies may include generating from a single baseband signal, a plurality of radio frequency transmission signals each at a different radio frequency, wherein the single baseband signal comprises an in-phase signal component and/or a quadrature signal component. The single baseband signal, to generate said plurality of radio frequency transmission signals, may be modulated in a single radio frequency transmission chain, the radio frequency transmission chain comprising intermediate frequency modulation and radio frequency modulation. The plurality of radio frequency transmission signals may be a radio frequency signal and a corresponding image frequency signal, based on the intermediate frequency modulation and the radio frequency modulation. The signals resulting from the intermediate frequency modulation and the radio frequency modulation may be filtered to preserve the radio frequency signal and the corresponding image frequency signal.

Method and system for simultaneous signal transmission on multiple selected frequencies

Methods and systems for wireless communication are disclosed and may include controlling one or more scans of a received signal detection frequency across a frequency range and storing a magnitude of the received signal at each frequency where the magnitude exceeds a threshold level. A type of one or more signals in the received signal may be determined based on a bandwidth of the signals. A Bluetooth page/inquiry scan may be initiated if the determined type is a page/inquiry signal, and scans may be continued if the determined type may not be a page/inquiry signal. The scans may be repeated on a periodic basis and may be controlled utilizing a voltage controlled oscillator. Each of the scans may include a plurality of discrete frequency steps or a continuous frequency ramp. The controlling may include a start frequency, an end frequency and a frequency step size for the scans.

Method and system for a continuing scan in a bluetooth wireless system

A method and system sharing a Bluetooth processor for FM functions are provided. The single chip may comprise an integrated Bluetooth radio, an integrated FM radio, and processor system. A processor in the processor system may be utilized for Bluetooth and FM data processing and may time multiplex between the Bluetooth and FM data processing based on interrupt signals. The processor may operate in a low power mode based on a clock signal generated from a low power oscillator. When a Bluetooth interrupt signal is received, the processor may enable Bluetooth data processing that may be based on a Bluetooth clock signal. When an FM interrupt signal is received, the processor may enable FM data processing that may be based on an FM clock signal. When data processing is complete, the processor may return to the low power mode operation.

Method and system for sharing a Bluetooth processor for FM functions

A method and system for a single chip integrated Bluetooth and FM transceiver and baseband processor are provided. The single chip may comprise a Bluetooth radio, an FM radio, a processor system, and a peripheral transport unit (PTU). FM data may be received and/or transmitted via the FM radio and Bluetooth data may be received and/or transmitted via the Bluetooth radio. The FM radio may receive radio data system (RDS) data. The PTU may support digital and analog interfaces. A processor in the processor system may time-multiplex processing of FM data and processing of Bluetooth data. The single chip may operate in an FM-only, a Bluetooth-only, and an FM-Bluetooth mode. The single chip may reduce power consumption by disabling portions of the Bluetooth radio during FM-only mode and/or disabling analog circuitry when performing digital processing. Communication between Bluetooth and FM channels may be enabled via the single chip.

Method and system for a single chip integrated Bluetooth and FM transceiver and baseband processor

Embodiments of the present invention provide an oscillator circuit having a steady output frequency that is independent of the supplied voltage. This oscillator includes a Schmitt trigger circuit which may be implemented within an integrated circuit of a wireless terminal or other like portable electronic device. The Schmitt trigger circuit receives a threshold voltage input and a second voltage input. The Schmitt trigger circuit generates an output voltage equal to either a first output voltage or a second output voltage based on the results of comparing the threshold voltage input to the second voltage input. An RC network may be coupled to the output of the Schmitt trigger circuit and is operable to supply the second voltage input to the Schmitt trigger circuit. A voltage divider network also couples to the output of the Schmitt trigger circuit wherein the threshold voltage input is proportional to the first output voltage reduced by the voltage divider network based on the output voltage of the Schmitt trigger circuit.

A system for processing signals is disclosed and may include a single chip having an integrated Bluetooth radio and an integrated FM radio. The single chip may include at least one processor that enables selecting from a range of FM channels, a particular frequency for one of the FM channels based on an intermediate frequency (IF). The particular frequency may be selected so that it is an integer multiple of a channel spacing between neighboring allocated FM channels within the range of FM channels, and may be offset by at most one-half the channel spacing. The at least one processor may enable determining a frequency error of the selected particular frequency for the one of the FM channels. The at least one processor may also enable determining, whether the particular frequency includes an on-frequency channel based on the determined frequency error.

A transceiver is provided for wireless communication. The transceiver can include a bias source, a transformer including a primary side and a secondary side, and a switching device. During a receive mode, the primary side of the transformer is configured to receive a first signal from a first port. During a transmission mode, the primary side is configured to transmit a second signal from a second port. The switching device is configured to couple the first port to the bias source during transmission of the second signal and to couple the second port to the bias source during receipt of the first signal. The bias source can be, for example, ground.

The center frequency may be adjusted to avoid high power portions of the second order interference signal. The center frequency of the low IF signal may be dynamically adjusted to keep second order interference level at an acceptable level. Adjusting the center frequency of the low IF signal may also comprise keeping the low IF signal from being blocked by a DC component of the second order interference signal.
