A suspension strut bearing includes a top mount. The top mount is coupled to a guidance ring, wherein relative rotation or oscillation between the guidance ring and the top mount is enabled via rolling elements between an upper raceway and a lower raceway. The top mount has a top mount plate with an internal seal and an external seal. Both seals are overmolded to the top mounted plate and inhibit debris or the like from interfering with the operation of the rolling elements in the raceways. By overmolding the seals, a separate cap is no longer needed to be part of the suspension strut bearing. Further, the upper raceway can be integrated into the top mount plate itself. For example, the top mount plate can be shaped or formed to take the shape of the upper raceway, rather than having a separate element attached to the top mount plate.

Strut bearing integration

An integrated plastic shield bearing assembly including a plastic shield for preventing contamination of running surfaces of a bearing assembly is disclosed. The integrated plastic shield bearing assembly includes an inner bearing ring defining an inner race, an outer bearing ring defining an outer race, and a plurality of rolling elements supported between the inner race and the outer race. A first one of the inner bearing ring or the outer bearing ring includes a circumferential groove. The plastic shield includes a molding portion molded on to the circumferential groove of the first one of the inner bearing ring or the outer bearing ring, and a shield portion extending towards a second one of the inner bearing ring or the outer bearing ring.

A strut bearing including an improved seal configuration is disclosed. The strut bearing includes an upper carrier including a first outer axially extending rim and a first inner axially extending rim, and a lower carrier including a second outer axially extending rim and a second inner axially extending rim. The first outer axially extending rim at least partially surrounds the second outer axially extending rim. A rolling bearing is supported between the upper and lower carriers. A seal includes at least one sealing lip and a reinforcement rim, and the at least one sealing lip is molded on to the reinforcement rim. The seal extends between the first outer axially extending rim of the upper carrier and the second outer axially extending rim of the lower carrier.

Strut bearing

A switchable cam follower of a valve train of a combustion engine, which has an external lever that encompasses an internal lever. The levers are pivotably moveable relative to one another at a valve-side end. The cam follower has a stop for a gas exchange valve on an underside on the valve-side end and a complementary face on the other end for a support element. The cam follower has a start face on an upper side for at least one high-lift cam. In one receptacle of the internal lever a coupling element is seated, which is displaceable longitudinally and can be brought into engagement in sections in case of coupling with a driving surface of the external lever. Also, at least one torsion is clamped between the two levers.

A switchable cam follower of a valve train of a combustion engine, which has an external lever that encompasses an internal lever between its arms. The levers are pivotally moveable relative to one another on an axis applied to a valve-side end. The cam follower also has a stop for a gas exchange valve on an underside on the valve-side end and on the other end has a complementary face for a support element. Additionally, the cam follower has a start face on an upper side for at least one high-lift cam. In one receptacle of one of the cams, a coupling element is seated, which can be brought into engagement in sections in case of coupling with a driving surface of the other lever. Further, a lost-motion spring is clamped between the two levers and is positioned in the region of the other end of the cam follower.

So that the valve train has a compact construction and low production costs and nevertheless low wear in operation, it is provided that the locking device () is held within the cam () and has a spring-loaded, annular locking collar () that can move in the axial direction on the camshaft () and, as a counter part to the locking collar (), locking shoes (') coupled with the cam (), wherein, in a locking position, the locking collar () is pressed against the locking shoes (&#x2032;) by contacting, ramp-shaped boundary surfaces () formed on the locking collar () and the locking shoes (&#x2032;), so that radial projections () arranged on the locking shoes (&#x2032;) engage in adjacent, pocket-shaped receptacles () of the camshaft () by a radial force and, in an unlocked position, the locking collar () is released from the locking shoes (&#x2032;) by a force acting against the radial force.
