A battery cell in which a liquid electrolyte is disposed and an acoustic transducer in mechanical communication with the battery cell. The acoustic transducer is configured to generate acoustic waves. The acoustic waves have a wavelength larger than a dimension of the battery cell such that the acoustic waves generate cavitation bubbles in the electrolyte.

Acoustic wave-based battery management

An acoustic lens to steer an acoustic beam includes a first structure, a second structure spaced from the first structure, an array of projections disposed between the first and second structures, each projection of the array of projections extending from the first structure toward the second structure to define a respective gap between the projection and the second structure, and an actuator configured to move the first structure, the second structure, or the array of projections for collective adjustment of the respective gaps of the array of projections. Each projection is configured to define one or more respective unit cells, each unit cell having a sub-wavelength size relative to the acoustic beam to establish an effective refractive index profile for the acoustic beam between the first and second structures. The actuator is configured such that the collective adjustment of the respective gaps varies across the array of projections to spatially modify the effective refractive index profile to steer the acoustic beam.

Metamaterial-based acoustic sensor beamforming

A method includes disposing a plurality of actuators about a subject, each actuator being configured to generate a respective vibration signal, each vibration signal applying a normal force to the subject, and controlling the plurality of actuators such that the respective vibration signal of each actuator of the plurality has a respective vibration characteristic. Each actuator is oriented such that the respective vibration signal propagates along a longitudinal axis of the subject for stimulation of the subject remote from the plurality of actuators.

Multiple actuator vibration therapy

A vibration absorber damper and method of dissipating vibration energy in a rotatable structure which is nominally cyclic symmetric. The nominally cyclic symmetric structure includes a hub portion having a rotational axis and a plurality of radial members radially extending from the hub portion. The hub portions having a groove extending circumferentially about the rotational axis. The vibrational absorber having a ring member having a plurality of repetitive cellular structures each defining a hollow interior section and a plurality of deformable members each extending from the ring member and disposed in a corresponding one of the repetitive cellular structures. Each of the deformable members is configured to interact with the cyclic symmetric structure to damp vibration thereof.

A vehicular system includes a crankshaft, a drive shaft, a plurality of electromagnetic machines mechanically coupling the crankshaft to the drive shaft, a power controller electrically coupled to the plurality of electromagnetic machines and configured to control current and/or voltage provided to, or received from, each electromagnetic machine of the plurality of electromagnetic machines, a supervisory controller communicatively coupled with the power controller and configured to establish an operational mode for the power controller, and a storage device electrically coupled to the power controller to store energy captured by the power controller.

Regenerative differential powertrain with vibration absorption and isolation

An excitation system includes a pair of piezoelectric elements configured to apply respective excitation forces to a test structure, a clamp including an adjustable arm, the adjustable arm being configured to capture the test structure between the pair of piezoelectric elements, a controller coupled to the pair of piezoelectric elements and configured to generate a respective excitation control signal for each piezoelectric element, each excitation control signal being configured such that the respective excitation forces are matched to one another, and a pair of sensor film structures to generate respective output signals indicative of the excitation forces applied to the test structure, each sensor film structure being disposed between a respective one of the pair of piezoelectric elements and the test structure.
