A cuttings collection system includes a drill bit at the end of a toolstring, a stabilizer connected to the drill bit, a cuttings catcher arranged around the stabilizer with apertures having a size less than an average size of cuttings generated by the drill bit and retractability, and sensors installed in a body of the stabilizer. A cuttings catcher includes a housing with recesses and a retractable mesh installed in each of the recesses. A method of operating an at-bit cuttings catcher system includes providing a toolstring with a drill bit, a stabilizer, a cuttings catcher, and a measurement-while-drilling tool, where the cuttings catcher includes a housing with recesses and a mesh installed in the recesses, drilling a formation using the drill bit, producing cuttings of the formation, extending the mesh from the housing of the cuttings catcher, catching cuttings in the cuttings catcher, and analyzing the cuttings using sensors.

A microchip deployment system for a well includes a drilling fluid pump, a drilling fluid pipe extending from the drilling fluid pump into the well, and a microchip deployment mechanism provided on the drilling fluid pipe. The microchip deployment mechanism comprises a housing and a spherical valve. The housing has an input opening and an output opening. The spherical valve is rotatably arranged within the housing, and the spherical valve comprises a microchip pocket. The spherical valve is rotatable within the housing from a receiving position to a deploying position, wherein the microchip pocket is proximate to the input opening when in the receiving position, and wherein the microchip pocket is proximate to the output opening when in the deploying position.

A system includes a drilling microchip, a mud return line, a microchip detector, and a computer system. The drilling microchip has an identifier and configured to be pumped into the drill string and up the annulus using the drilling fluid to obtain data about the well. The mud return line is hydraulically connected to the annulus of the well and a shale shaker. The microchip detector is connected to the shale shaker and has a detection range. The microchip detector is configured to interact with the identifier to indicate a presence of the drilling microchip in the detection range. The computer system is electronically connected to the microchip detector. The microchip detector is configured to send a signal to the computer system upon indication of the presence of the drilling microchip.

The sensor sleeve may include a transmitter that transmits a sensing signal in a direction of a fluid in the wellbore, a receiver that receives the sensing signal after the sensing signal is reflected on a surface of the fluid, and a repeater that determines a distance between the sensor sleeve and the fluid level from the transmitted and received sensing signal. The fluid level in the wellbore may be calculated using the distance determined by the repeater and a distance between the sensor sleeve and a surface of the wellbore.

The system comprises a base station, a plurality of nodes, and a user device. The plurality of nodes are distributed geographically, with each node secured into the ground on the Earth's surface. A sensor senses a state of the nodes relative to the ground, including a displacement and pose changes of the nodes relative to the ground. The sensed states of the nodes used to generate a geophysical map of the ground, including the displacement and the pose change of at least one node due to an evolution of a sinkhole. An output device is configured to display the geophysical map and the sinkhole to a user.

The ball catcher is configured to receive and hold the ball after the plurality of microchips are released into the well. The ball catcher and the ball are made of a dissolvable material.

The method further includes determining a first volume of gas within the chamber based on the first and second pressure measurements and the change in the amount of gas, and determining a first fluid level based on the first volume of the chamber.

Systems and methods include a computer-implemented method can be used to make drilling tools from new wurtzite boron nitride (w-BN) superhard material. An ultra-high-pressure, high-temperature operation is performed on pure w-BN powder to synthesize w-BN and cubic boron nitride (c-BN) compact having a first size greater than particles of the pure w-BN powder. The ultra-high-pressure, high-temperature operation includes pressurizing the w-BN powder to a pressure of approximately 20 Gigapascal, heating the w-BN powder at a heating rate of 100° C./minute and cooling the w-BN powder at a cooling rate of 50° C./minute. The compact is cut to a second size smaller than the first size using laser cutting tools. The cut compact is bonded metallurgically, mechanically, or both metallurgically and mechanically onto a tool substrate to form the drilling tool.

A control element may block an opening of the housing, the control element is made of a dissolvable material configured to dissolve at a predetermined depth in a wellbore and release the one or more mobile devices into the wellbore.

The housing or the packer includes a fluid channel in fluid communication with the wellbore string or an annulus of the wellbore. The thermal spray assembly is coupled to the housing and sprays a damaged section of the casing with a thermal spray to repair the damaged section. The housing flows an inert gas received from the wellbore string or the annulus of the wellbore and through the fluid channel into the repair zone until an oxygen in the repair zone is substantially removed from the repair zone.
