The invention discloses preparations for use in enhancing formation of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) in a subject for treating or preventing a disease or disorder comprising at least one omega-3 fatty acid salt having an organic counter ion selected from lysine, arginine, ornithine, choline and mixtures of the same, wherein the omega-3 fatty acid is selected from eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), and a colon-specific delivery system.

Preparation for use in enhancing formation of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs)

A synbiotic preparation may include at least one probiotic strain and at least one amino acid or derivative thereof selected from glutamine, glutamic acid or salts thereof, conjugated glutamine, or oligopeptides of 2-10 amino acid units in length, wherein the amino acid units may be natural amino acids, and at least one amino acid unit being a glutamine or glutamic acid unit.

Synbiotic compositions

Preparations may include at least one extract of gum resins fromspecies and at least one omega-3 fatty acid salt selected from eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Surprisingly, such combinations of extracts of gum resins fromspecies and polyunsaturated fatty acid salt can cause a marked and unexpected increase in the biosynthesis of specialized pro-resolving mediators (SPM) in a synergistic manner, proposing benefit for resolution of inflammatory conditions.

Preparation comprising omega-3 fatty acid salts and extracts of gum resins fromspecies

A preparation containing a mixture of at least one phospholipid, and at least one fatty acid salt of a cation with an anion derived from a fatty acid. A method for preparing such preparation and the use of such preparation to provide polyunsaturated fatty acids to cells, tissues, organs or organisms, for example in the field of cell and tissue culture, organ preservation, human or animal nutrition, or cosmetics.
