The invention relates to a multilayer biaxially oriented polyester film comprising a base layer B, an amorphous outer layer A and a further outer layer C, where this polyester film is suitable for lamination with metal sheets. The invention in particular relates to a polyester film which comprises (based on the mass of polyester) from 2 to 15% by weight of isophthalate-derived units in the base layer and which comprises more than 19% by weight of isophthalate-derived units in the amorphous layer A, and which has a silane-based coating on the outer layer A. The invention further relates to a process for the production of these films.

Biaxially oriented polyester film for metal lamination

The invention relates to transparent packaging for vacuum forming, inter alia, formed from a biaxially oriented, thermoformable polyester film as lower film (A) and a biaxially oriented polyester film as upper film (B) that is both heat-sealable and peelable (at least when the material is hot) in relation to the lower film (A). The present invention further relates to the use of such packaging to produce sealed, thermoformed packs, and to the processes for their respective production.

The present invention relates to a transparent, biaxially oriented, thermoformable polyester film including at least 85% by weight of a copolyester whose dicarboxylic acid components derive to an extent of 85 to 94 mol % from terephthalic acid-based units and to an extent of 6 to 15 mol % from isophthalic acid-based units. The inventive films exhibit a surface elasticity modulus in the range from 4500 to 6400 N/mm; a sum total of the strengths (&#x3c3;) in longitudinal direction and in transverse direction in the range from 170 to 220 MPa; a density of less than 1390 kg/m; a haze of less than 2.0%; a clarity of at least 85%; a gloss of at least 120 and a thickness in the range from 50 to 300 &#x3bc;m. The invention further relates to processes for producing such films, and to the use thereof.

Transparent, thermoformable, biaxially oriented polyester film, process for production thereof and use thereof

The invention relates to an at least three-layer biaxially oriented polyester film including at least one base layer B, one rough outer layer A and one smooth outer layer C, where the layers A and C are external layers arranged on opposing surfaces of the base layer B. The outer layer A includes calcium carbonate particles. The outer layer C includes less than 0.1% by weight of particles (where the percentage by weight data are based on the weight of the layer). The polyester used to produce all of the layers includes no 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic-acid-derived units as repeating units. The entire film includes less than 0.3% by weight (based on the weight of the entire film) of particles. The invention further relates to processes for producing the film, and also to use of the latter as process film for the provision of surface properties, in particular for furniture surfaces.

Transparent, biaxially oriented polyester film with smooth surface on one side and with good windability

A transparent, peelable polyester film is provided with clarity greater than 80% including a biaxially oriented polyester film as base layer (B) and an offline coated heat-sealable outer layer (A) that is peelable relative to ready-meal APET or RPET trays. The heat-sealable and peelable outer layer (A) includes from 85 to 99 wt % polyester and from 1 to 15 wt % other substances, the polyester including of from 25 to 95 mol % of units derived from at least one aromatic dicarboxylic acid and from 5 to 75 mol % of units derived from at least one aliphatic dicarboxylic acid. The polyester incorporates at least 10 mol % of units derived from diols having more than 2 carbon atoms. The mass of the dry outer layer (A) is from 1 to 5 g/m. Production processes for the foregoing film, and use thereof as scalable film for ready-meal trays is also provided.
