A latch () for a top of a vehicle comprises a latching hook () which is disposed in a guide plate (), preferably having a U-shaped cross-section, to be movable from a closed position into an open position on a defined path () via guiding means (boltpin). A geared motor () is provided for pivoting a actuation lever () which is connected to the latching hook (). The connection between the latching hook () and the actuation lever () is realized through several levers () which are connected to each other in an hinged fashion. The motor-driven latch for a top with compact space-saving structure, has a latching hook with a larger radius of motion to increase the separation from the windscreen frame in the open position.

A removable roof is provided for a passenger car of the sports car type, between a windshield frame and a rollover bar system, which roof is made of a plastic material and includes an exterior wall as well as an interior wall. In order to create a highly stressable, light-weight and space-saving roof, the exterior wall as well as the interior wall are made of a high-strength plastic material and form a rigid member connection, the exterior wall and the interior wall meeting essentially only at edge zones.

Removable roof for a motor vehicle and method of making same

A removable roof is provided for a motor vehicle, particularly a passenger car, and covers an opening between a windshield frame and a body frame structure of a vehicle body extending, for example, behind vehicle occupant seats. The roof comprises a dimensionally stable material and cooperates by means of a form-lockingly operating fixing system with the windshield frame. For optimizing the connection of the roof with the windshield frame, the fixing system of the roof has a first fixing device and a second fixing device. The two fixing devices are arranged offset with respect to one another in the vertical direction of the vehicle by a distance measurement and are caused to engage by means of a movement of the roof in the driving direction.

Removable roof assembly for a motor vehicle

A removable roof intended for a motor vehicle, particularly a passenger car, covers an opening between a windshield frame and a body frame structure of a body of the passenger car extending, for example, behind vehicle occupant seats. On the one hand, the roof is held in position by a form-lockingly operating fixing system and, on the other hand, by a locking system, which locking system is operative between the roof and the vehicle body frame structure constructed as a rollover bar system. In order to advantageously fasten the roof by the fixing system and the locking system on the windshield frame and the rollover bar system respectively, the locking system has at least one locking device cooperating with the rollover bar system and including an operating device with a locking pin which engages in a closing crank.

A lock includes a plug-type pin, which is rotatably held in a stationary receiving sleeve fastened to the hardtop. A spring element is provided between the sleeve and a contact disk. The plug-type pin has a link pin on one end side which can be locked while introduced in a helical guideway of a stationary link element of the vehicle body. On the head side, the plug-type pin has a transversely situated holding pin, which can be adjusted on face-side guideways of the receiving sleeve into an open and closed position against the tension of an elastomer spring arranged between the contact disk and the receiving sleeve.

A roof construction for a vehicle has a large-surface roof opening which is surrounded by vehicle-body-side member sections and which can be closed by at least one movable forward roof section and an adjoining tail gate. The forward roof section is displaceable toward the rear of the vehicle and under the tail gate by way of laterally arranged vehicle rails extending in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and by way of driving devices. In order to simplify and shorten assembly work at an assembly line, the at least one movable roof section, the assigned guide rails, the tail gate and the driving devices are accommodated by a surrounding carrying frame and, together with the carrying frame, form a prefabricated module. Together with the insertion of a surrounding sealing element, the prefabricated module is connected with the vehicle-body-side member sections.

A closure for a passenger car cover which is stretched against a stationary frame of a vehicle body, comprises a housing which is arranged on the top side and has an operating element and comprises a swivellable locking hook which interacts with a connecting link mounted on the frame. In its locked position, while having an inconspicuous appearance, the lock does not project with respect to the adjoining top contour in the direction of the passenger compartment. During the opening operation, the operating element takes up a position advantageous for gripping by a user. In the locked position of the lock, a first and a second operating element are arranged in a sunk manner in a recess of the top frame. The two operating elements interact such that the second operating element will be moved into a lowered gripping position only after the operation of the first operating element.

A folding convertible top for a vehicle is held in its closed position on the adjoining windshield frame by locking arrangement and, after the release of the locking arrangement can be displaced into a rear-side deposited position. The locking arrangement comprises a locking element with a locking hook arranged on a forward folding top section as well as at least one centering device which acts between the folding top and the windshield frame, and has projecting centering elements arranged on the forward folding top section. A detent device is provided for fixing the folded-back folding top, and the locking element with the locking hook arranged on the forward folding top section and the centering elements also provided on the forward folding top section also form operating parts of the rear-side detent device.

A roof construction includes a movable roof section which, after being lowered, can be displaced under a fixed roof section. Viewed in the forward driving direction, a protective and covering strip is provided on the rear edge of the movable roof section. This protective and covering strip covers the connection area between the two roof sections on the one hand and, on the other hand, covers a gap which is formed when the movable roof section is lowered.

Roof construction for a motor vehicle

A rollover bar for a motor vehicle, particularly for a convertible, is disclosed which is made up at several mutually connected frame parts and is fastened on its exterior lower ends on the stationary vehicle body. For creating a rollover bar which, while its function is good, can be manufactured in a simple and low-cost manner, requires minimal mounting space and has a low weight, it is provided that the rollover bar comprises internal-high-pressure-formed frame parts.

A convertible wind protection device which is arranged behind a row of seats projects upward over the row of seats and extends along the entire width of the vehicle interior. The wind protection device can be displaced from an inoperative into an operative position. In order to provide a wind protection device with easy operability and in a space-saving housing in its inoperative position when the top is closed, it is provided that the swivellable wind protection device is disposed on the folding top of the convertible.

A latching arrangement for a top includes a latching device arranged at a forward frame part of the top and a mounting device provided at the windshield frame, whereby a pivot arm of the latching device movable about an approximately horizontally aligned pivot axis includes a rotatable roller which cooperates during the closing operation of the top with a guide track of the mounting device. In order to achieve with small structural height of the latching arrangement a relatively large lift movement of the top in the vertical direction, two rollers arranged at a distance to one another are provided at the pivot arm which during the actuation of the pivot arm cooperate sequentially with the fixed guide track.
