A compression gauge for measuring the compression applied to a test bolt. The compression gauge includes a passive hydraulic cylinder and a piston slidably disposed within the cylinder. The piston and the cylinder define an hydraulic chamber. A threaded test bolt passes through the piston and cylinder to engage a female receiver on the opposite side of the compression gauge. Tightening the test bolt will cause the bolt to compress the piston and cylinder which will pressurize the hydraulic chamber. A pressure gauge measures the pressure achieved in the hydraulic chamber. This pressure can be easily converted to compressive force. When a hydraulic wrench is used to tighten the test bolt, the wrench can be set to apply the same amount of torque to a workpiece bolt and thus apply the desired amount of compression to the workpiece bolt.

Compression gauge

A wrench assembly including a drive head and an attached socket for engaging a bolt or nut. When the drive head turns, the socket and any engaged threaded member will also rotate. A hydraulic motor and cylinder are also included. The hydraulic motor and cylinder rotate the drive head and socket independently of each other. Typically, the hydraulic motor will rotate the drive head faster than the cylinder but at lower torques. Thus, the hydraulic motor will spin the threaded member down until it is snug, and then the hydraulic cylinder will tighten the threaded member to the desired torque. Alternatively, the hydraulic cylinder may break the threaded member out when it is tight. The hydraulic motor will then spin the loosened threaded member out. Finally, the wrench assembly includes a hydraulic fluid distribution system, including one or more valves that regulate hydraulic fluid flow through the wrench assembly.

Hydraulic wrench control valve systems

A runner apparatus is disclosed herein that is used alone or in combination with or incorporated into an existing torque wrench. The runner apparatus has a motor positioned offset from end operatively engaging a threaded member so that the runner apparatus or runner apparatus-torque wrench combination has a profile height that allows it to be positioned in confined spaces that are relatively small.

Offset hydraulic runner apparatus

The present invention provides a power activated wrench with a safety switch for preventing premature activation. The power activated wrench has a wrench body with a tool head assembly and an activation arm for applying torque to the tool head assembly. An activation switch is in operative connection to the activation arm. A safety switch housing is connected to the wrench body and a contact surface connected to the safety switch housing. The proximate connection of the contact surface with a reaction point enables the activation switch.

A ratcheting hydraulic torque wrench in which the lever arm is provided with a tracking arm guided within a channel in a wrench body. The tool head is divided into a ratcheting portion containing roller drive pins, and a notched portion to allow access to pipe flange nuts.

Ratcheting box wrench

A hydraulic torque wrench in which the base of the hydraulic cylinder attaches directly to the end of the torque wrench body, and the piston rod of the hydraulic cylinder attaches to the lever arm of the tool head whereby the lever arm is provided with a tracking arm guided within a recess of the torque wrench body.

A device for rethreading and cleaning threaded pipe studs having an elongated casing having an outside surface provided with flat portions for attaching to a torquing means, which casing is provided with a straight channel therethrough shaped to allow passage of the pipe stud with at least a portion of the channel sidewalls having an inside diameter slightly larger than the outside diameter of the pipe studs, and having multiple threading dies attached to the channel sidewalls at one open end with the teeth protruding perpendicularly from the channel sidewalls, wherein the teeth on each threading die projects consecutively shallower into the channel as they progress from the open end.

A reaction plate assembly for use in a hydraulic torque wrench is disclosed comprising a reaction plate having a perimeter section provided with a series of spaced apart bolt openings and an adjacent perimeter section provided with at least one ring nut, bolt opening, a clevis pivotly mounted at one end by a bolt means at one of said series of bolt openings, the clevis having an opposite end pivotly mountable to a hydraulic cylinder, and a nut ring mounted at one end by a second bolt means to the adjacent perimeter section and provided with a nut opening having a cross-sectional shape to rotatably fit about a nut head.

Universal reaction plate

A linking arm having a bolt or nut receiving unit offset at one end of an arm member whose opposite end is attachable to a torque wrench for tightening or loosening the bolt or nut.
