A refuse vehicle has a tailgate. The tailgate has a framework to secure CNG tanks. A cover overlays the frame work to provide an aesthetic appearance to the vehicle.

An intermediate container for a refuse vehicle where the container is positioned in front of the refuse vehicle is provided. A plurality of legs extends from the container toward the refuse vehicle. An attachment mechanism is on each leg to secure the legs to a front loading arm assembly of the refuse vehicle.

A multi-use garbage truck has an ability to not only to front load containers of garbage into a hopper in a refuse collection body, but also an ability to swap out the forks, if not arm connection assemblies, or even entire frame arms, to be replaced with one of a plurality of attachments which connect to at least one, if not both frame arms with attachments for various uses such as snow plow, leaf blower, street sweeper, bucket, grapple, etc. Furthermore, an ability to independently operate the left frame arm relative to the right frame arm can now be provided so that the left frame arm can utilize and perform one function and the right frame arm provide another or at least be independently operable from one another.

Tailgate with structurally integrated CNG System

A refuse collection vehicle includes a chassis and a storage container that is detachably mounted on the chassis. The storage container has a rear wall with an opening therein and a sweep panel that is mounted in the rear wall. The sweep panel is movable between an open position which exposes the opening in the rear wall of the container and a closed position which covers the opening in the rear wall of the container. The refuse collection vehicle also includes a rear tailgate assembly that has a hopper which is adapted to receive refuse and a packer assembly which is adapted to cooperate with the sweep panel to move refuse from the hopper of the tailgate assembly into the storage. A method for loading refuse in a storage container and a storage container that is useful in practicing such method are also described.

A gate assembly for closing an open end of a storage compartment that is defined by a pair of side walls includes an upper member that is mounted on the side walls of the storage compartment so as to be movable between an open position and a closed position. The gate assembly also includes a lower member having a top side and a bottom side. The top side is pivotally attached to the upper member along a generally horizontal axis. The gate assembly also includes a cam that is attached to one of the side walls of the storage compartment and a follower that is adapted to interact with the cam. The cam and follower are mounted and arranged with respect to a side wall of the storage compartment and the lower member so that as the upper member is moved from the open position to the closed position, interaction between the cam and follower will cause the lower member to pivot about the generally horizontal axis so that its bottom side moves toward the open end of the storage compartment.

Automatic gate assembly

A dual track handling assembly is provided for refuse collection equipment having a hopper for receiving refuse, which hopper is defined in part by a pair of oppositely disposed sidewalls. The assembly includes a pair of lower tracks, each of which is mounted on a sidewall in a generally parallel disposition to the other. The assembly also includes a pair of upper tracks each of which is mounted on a sidewall in a generally parallel disposition to the other. The pair of lower tracks define a plane that is substantially parallel to a plane defined by the pair of upper tracks. The assembly also includes a pair of lower track shoes which move in the lower tracks and a pair of upper track shoes which move in the upper tracks. The assembly also includes a carrier having a lower track end that is attached to a lower track shoe, an upper track end that is attached to an upper track shoe, and a lower side that is substantially parallel to the tracks within which said lower and upper track shoes are received. The assembly also includes a blade that pivots between an open position and a closed position, a blade actuator, and a packer actuator that moves the upper track shoes in the upper tracks. The assembly also includes a deflector that is substantially parallel to the plane defined by the pair of lower tracks. The lower side of the carrier is adapted to substantially bear against at least a portion of the deflector.
