A connector-less probe is disclosed. The probe permits probing of a board or bus without the use of a mating connector. The probe has a support attached to the probing end of the probe. A spring pin and an isolation network are attached to the support. The support is arranged substantially perpendicular to a target board during probing of a test point on the target board. The spring pin engages the test point on the target board. The spring pin is arranged substantially perpendicular to the target board when the spring pin engages the test point on the target board, and the spring pin is securely attached to the support so that the spring pin is substantially parallel to the support. The isolation network is electrically coupled to the spring pin so that the spring pin is located between the isolation network and the test point during probing of the test point. The isolation network is also securely attached to the support.

Probe for testing circuits, and associated methods

A system includes an interconnect that is seated and retained in a connector using a number of bumpletts arranged in the system to exert a cam force that encourages retention of the interconnect in the connector. The connector is coupled to a target board. The connector comprises a spacer nest and a pair of boards, such as printed circuit boards, that may contain electrical circuitry. The cam bumpletts may reside at the interconnect, or on either or both of the pair of boards of the connector.

Cam bumplett apparatus and system

An electrical connection structure terminates an electrical signal wire while electrically coupling the wire to a target circuit board. A rigid printed circuit board or flex circuit is attached in a substantially perpendicular orientation to the target board by way of solder. A termination circuit is then mounted near the end of the rigid board or flex circuit that is attached to the target circuit board, with the termination circuit electrically coupling the signal wire with the target circuit board.

Solder-down printed circuit board connection structure

A shroud for a rectangular PCB-mounted electronic connector fashioned from a single piece of metal surrounds the connector on three sides of the connector by way of three walls. The fourth side of the connector is also partially covered via flanges extending from the end walls of the shroud. The walls and flanges of the shroud extend higher than the connector, thus defining a channel that aligns a mating structure for the connector when the mating structure is being plugged into the connector.

An electrical connection structure and method allow the coupling of one printed circuit board with another without the use of cables or connectors. An edge of one printed circuit board contains a plurality of plated split holes. Within each hole, an electrically conductive leg is maintained by way of solder, thus providing electrical connectivity between the first and second printed circuit boards. Additionally, a method of soldering a wire coil into a series of such edge-positioned plated split holes and subsequently cutting the coil along the edge of the first printed circuit board will yield the desired conductive legs.

Structure and method for interconnection of printed circuit boards

A test probe assembly for testing integrated circuit (IC) packages mounted onto a ball grid array is described. The test probe assembly can also be used to interconnect test instrumentation to the ball grid array without removal from the circuit in which it is mounted and with a minimal impact on the performance of the circuit. Contacts on the test probe assembly make electrical contact to test traces fabricated on the top side of the ball grid array package.
