A choke valve comprising: a body having an axial through hole and a radial entry port; a valve seat coaxially housed in the body axial through hole on a first side of the radial entry port; a pressure balanced valving member axially reciprocable within the body axial through hole between a first sealing position bearing against the valve seat and a second position spaced away from the seat; an actuator housing operably connected to the valving member; and a detachably connected reinforcement member detachably connected to the actuator housing and increasing the axial load that the actuator housing can take before failure of the actuator housing.

Method and apparatus for a choke valve and operation of a choke valve

A compact manifold ball valve having a valve body, valve ball, valve stem and two piece retainer system; the valve body including a valve chamber having first and second ends, and a first flow passage intersecting the valve chamber and valve ball. The valve ball can be trunnion supported and include pair of movable seat assemblies that can be used to seal the valve ball to the valve body. A two piece retainer can be used to hold in place the valve components, the two piece retainer including a first section which moves only linearly along with a second retainer piece that is a threaded ring that rotationally locks in place the first section of the two piece retainer. The two pieces of the retainer can be symmetrically located about the centerline of the flow passage of the valve body.

Disclosed are methods and apparatuses for removing and/or installing valves located between two fixed pipe spool pieces. The valves can be located between first and second immovable pipe spool pieces having a fixed distance between the first and second immovable pipe spool pieces, and in the process of removal a gap is created between the first and second immovable pipe spool pieces. The immovable pipe spool pieces can have longitudinal axes which are parallel, and the gap created along a longitudinal line which is parallel to the two longitudinal axes of the pipe spool pieces. The longitudinal axes of the first and second pipe spool pieces can be coincident with each other.

Method and apparatus for removing, repairing, refurbishing, replacing, and/or installing valve between two fixed spool pieces

A union assembly useful in a fluid flowstream includes a body portion, a pressure indicating device and a removable cover. The body portion includes a bore, an access opening and pressure indicating device cavity in fluid communication, and a first plurality of threads disposed around the access opening. The removable cover includes a passageway and a second plurality of threads disposed around the passageway. Engagement of the first and second pluralities of threads will secure the removable cover to the body portion for use of the union assembly without any additional mechanism connecting the removable cover with the body portion. When the union assembly is assembled, a cut-out portion on the removable cover is disposed at least partially around the pressure indicating device, whereby the pressure indicating device must be disengaged from the body portion before the removable cover may be disconnected.

A valve includes a valve body having an upstream bore, a downstream bore, a fluid flow chamber and a valve seat useful for sealing the fluid flow chamber from the downstream bore. The valve also includes a valve stem, a bonnet connected to the valve body and adapted to receive the valve stem therethrough, and a plurality of sealing assemblies operably connected to the valve stem.

A method of rebuilding an annular blow out preventer of the type having a head with threads that attach it to the body of the blow out preventer involves the removal of about 1 to 11/2) of the threads (e.g., if total thread revolutions equal seven (7) revolutions) closest to the internal bore and piston of the apparatus. An annular groove is formed at the interface between the head and the body. An annular seal, preferably a lip type seal, is positioned at this interface at the annular groove. The seal isolates the threads from the upper hydraulic chamber that is used to move the piston portion of the apparatus. This method prevents contamination and/or corrosion of the threads.

An improved choke valve apparatus for use in controlling oil well flow for example includes an improved interlock system for warning of a pressurized condition within the valve prior to removal of the valve wing nut member. The safety bleeder plug assembly includes a plug body threadably attached to an opening in the choke body. A pair of spaced apart spring loaded washers interfaces the bleeder plug body and the choke body to several hundred pounds per square inch of pressure so that inadvertent removal of the plug body and body is prevented.
