A method of determining a wear of a tire, which may include, using a computing device operating a processor: based on signals from one or more sensors of a vehicle, determining a plurality of tire parameters of a tire; based on at least a portion of the tire parameters, determining a normalized rolling radius of the tire, the normalized rolling radius being an effective rolling radius of the tire under a zero rotational speed, a zero load or both; and based on a change in the normalized rolling radius of the tire over a period of time, determining an average wear value of the tire.

Device and method for automatically determining wear of tires

A method for evaluating a status of a vehicle, the method may include (i) obtaining sensed information during one or more driving sessions of the vehicle; (ii) determining, based on the sensed information, (a) multi-component-model (MCM) behavioral information regarding one or more MCM driving events, and (b) a component behavioral information regarding one or more component driving events; wherein a behavior of at least one first part of the vehicle during the one or more MCM driving events is indicative of a status of one or more MCMs; wherein a behavior of at least one second part of the vehicle during the one or more component driving event is indicative of a status of one or more components; (iii) determining the status of the one or more MCMs, based at least on the MCM behavioral information; and (iv) determining the status of the one or more components, based at least on the component behavioral information, the status of the component.

Evaluating a status of a vehicle

A method for estimating an effective radius of a tire of a vehicle, the method may include (i) obtaining sensed information that reflects (a) a distance passed by the vehicle during one or more driving sessions, (b) a rotational speed of at least a wheel that comprises the tire during the one or more driving sessions, (c) values of tire radius affecting parameters during the one or more driving sessions, wherein the tire radius affecting parameters comprise a vehicle speed and at least some other tire radius affecting parameters; (ii) selecting at least one portion of the one or more driving sessions; and (iii) determining the effective radius of the tire of the vehicle based on (a) sensed information gained during the at least one portion, the sensed information comprises values of the tire radius affecting parameters during the at least one portion, and (b) one or more relationships between the effective radius of the tire and tire radius affecting parameters.

Estimating an effective radius of a tire of a vehicle

Processing electronic mail includes receiving an electronic mail having a read receipt request and determining, using a processor, that the electronic mail includes a read receipt distribution list. The read receipt distribution list specifies at least one sender-defined user including a subset of at least one recipient of the electronic mail. Using the processor, a read receipt is sent to the sender of the electronic mail and to each user specified on the read receipt distribution list responsive to detecting an opening of the electronic mail by at least one recipient of the electronic mail.

Approaches presented herein enable challenge-response authentication of a user based on information captured by devices associated with the user. Specifically, in one approach, a plurality of devices associated with the user that each dynamically track and store on-device data points over a period of time are identified. A request initiated by a party claiming to be the user is received to authenticate the party as the user. An authentication question is generated in a natural language, the answer to which is a data point selected from data points on at least one device of the plurality, wherein the selected data point is discoverable by viewing data points on the at least one device. The requesting party is prompted to find the data point by presenting the authentication question to the requesting party. In the case that the requesting party returns the answer, the requesting party is authenticated as the user.

Challenge-response user authentication based on information collected by internet of things devices

Approaches presented herein enable challenge-response authentication of a user based on information captured by a personal internet of things (IoT) device set associated with the user. Specifically, in one approach, a personal IoT device set comprising at least one device records and stores data associated with a user. The data is synchronized and stored to a computerized authentication system, which prompts the user with an authentication question based on the synchronized and stored data. The user may find an answer to the authentication question by reviewing data recorded and stored in the device of the personal IoT device set. The user may then enter the found answer to the authentication question, thereby authenticating the user. The personal IoT device set may comprise a single device or may comprise a plurality of devices, the information of one of which may be selected as the basis of the authentication question.

Challenge-response authentication based on internet of things information

A method enhances an emergency reporting system for controlling equipment. A message receiver receives an electronic message from a person. The electronic message is a report regarding an emergency event related to equipment. One or more processors identify a profile of the person who sent the electronic message, and determine a bias of the person regarding the emergency event based on the person's profile. One or more processors amend, based on the bias of the person, a content of the electronic message to create a modified electronic message regarding the emergency event. The message receiver detects that the modified electronic message came from an unauthorized source. A local controller on the equipment, in response to detecting that the modified electronic message came from the unauthorized source, automatically isolates the equipment from remote control signals for controlling the equipment.

Enhanced emergency reporting system

A method enhances an emergency reporting system for controlling equipment. A message receiver receives an electronic message from a person. The electronic message is a report regarding an emergency event. One or more processors identify a profile of the person who sent the electronic message, and determine a bias of the person regarding the emergency event based on the person's profile. One or more processors amend, based on the bias of the person, a content of the electronic message to create a modified electronic message regarding the emergency event. The modified electronic message is consolidated with other modified electronic messages into a bias-corrected report about the emergency event. One or more processors then automatically adjust equipment based on the bias-corrected report about the emergency event.

Techniques for display a file folder are described herein. In one example, a system includes a processor to detect a transmission of one or more files from a file folder to a service and calculate a popularity value for each of the one or more files based on detected feedback from the service. The processor can also display the file with the highest popularity value as an icon for the file folder.

An aspect includes a cognitive password entry system. A processor detects a login attempt targeting a website for a user identifier having a previously stored instance of a password associated with the user identifier. A number of login attempts is monitored since the password was manually entered at the website. The processor determines whether a prompting period has been reached based on the number of login attempts meeting a prompting period threshold. The stored instance of the password is used as an entered password for the login attempt based on determining that the prompting period has not been reached. A cognitive aid prompt is output based on determining that the prompting period has been reached.

Techniques are described for attention management. In one embodiment, a computer program product comprising a computer-readable storage medium has program code embodied therewith. The program code is executable by a computing device to build a communication history between two or more users, perform an analysis of the communication history for a pattern of communication between the two or more users, and generate an assessment based on the analysis. The communication history may include data from multiple different communication systems.

Attention management

A method and system are provided for text-to-speech synthesis with personalized voice. The method includes receiving an incidental audio input () of speech in the form of an audio communication from an input speaker () and generating a voice dataset () for the input speaker (). The method includes receiving a text input () at the same device as the audio input () and synthesizing () the text from the text input () to synthesized speech including using the voice dataset () to personalize the synthesized speech to sound like the input speaker (). In addition, the method includes analyzing () the text for expression and adding the expression () to the synthesized speech. The audio communication may be part of a video communication () and the audio input () may have an associated visual input () of an image of the input speaker. The synthesis from text may include providing a synthesized image personalized to look like the image of the input speaker with expressions added from the visual input ().
