A system based upon artificial neural networks generates attenuation-corrected SPECT from non-attenuation-corrected SPECT (single photon emission computed tomography) without or with an intermediate step of attenuation map estimation. The system includes a SPECT scanner with CZT cameras for dynamic SPECT imaging. The system also includes a machine learning system including a 3D Dual Squeeze-and-Excitation Residual Dense Network for generating attenuation-corrected SPECT or attenuation maps from non-attenuation-corrected SPECT. The machine learning system reconstructs images from photopeak window and one or more scatter windows of the SPECT scanner are fed to the 3D Dual Squeeze-and-Excitation Residual Dense Network to generate attenuation-corrected SPECT or attenuation maps.

CT-free attenuation correction for SPECT using deep learning with imaging and non-imaging information

A system and method are disclosed for segmenting a set of two-dimensional CT slices corresponding to a lesion. In an embodiment, for each of at least a subset of the set of CT slices, the system inputs the CT slice into a plurality of branches of a trained segmentation block. Each branch of the segmentation block includes a convolutional neural network (CNN) with filters at a different scale, and produces a plurality of levels of output. The system generates, for each CT slice in the subset, feature maps for each level of output. The system generates a segmentation of each CT slice in the subset based on the feature maps of each level of output. The system aggregates the segmentations of each slice in the subset to generate a three-dimensional segmentation of the lesion. The system provides data representing the three-dimensional segmentation for display.

Progressively-trained scale-invariant and boundary-aware deep neural network for the automatic 3D segmentation of lung lesions

A medical image classification method such as CT (or CAT) scans includes receiving the CT scan or medical image, inputting the medical image into an image classification model, which provides a cross entropy (CE) loss function and an aggregated cross entropy (ACE) loss function. According to the ACE loss function, image samples with generic label are used as input data during model training. The medical image can be classified by using the image classification model, and a classification of the medical image is thereby obtained. The present disclosure can classify indeterminate or general medical images and even unlabeled images and thus realize supervision of medical data. A device for applying the method is also provided.
