A computer implemented method includes receiving first firmware information at a hosting environment identifying that a user has selected user-controlled firmware for user virtual machines to be hosted on the hosting environment. A copy of the user-controlled firmware is obtained and a user virtual machine is deployed that includes the user-controlled firmware. The user-controlled firmware is locked against changes by the hosting environment absent receiving permission from the user.

Implementations of the subject matter described herein relate to conversational data analysis. After a data analysis request is received from a user, heuristic information may be determined based on the data analysis request. The heuristic information mentioned here is not a result for the data analysis request but information which may be used for leading the conversation to proceed. Based on such heuristic information, the user may provide supplementary information associated with the data analysis request, for example, clarify meaning of the data analysis request, submit a relevant further analysis request, and so on. A really desired and meaningful data analysis result can be provided to the user according to the supplementary information provided by the user. Thus, data analysis will become more accurate and effective. While obtaining really helpful information, the user also gains good user experience.

Conversational data analysis

Technologies for establishing device locality are disclosed. A processor in a computing device generates an identifier distinct to the computing device. The processor transmits the identifier to a management controller via a hardware bus in the computing device. The processor generates a key and encrypts the key with the identifier to generate a wrapped key. The processor transmits the wrapped key to the management controller. In turn, the management controller unwraps the key using the identifier. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Technologies for establishing device locality

In one embodiment, a computing system may determine, a predicted eye position of a viewer corresponding to a future time moment for displaying a frame. The system may generate a first correction map for the frame based on the predicted eye position of the viewer. The system may retrieve one or more second correction maps used for correcting one or more proceeding frames. The system may generate a third correction map based on the first correction map generated based on the predicted eye position of the viewer and the one or more second correction maps used for correcting the one or more proceeding frames. The system may adjust pixel values of the frame based at least on the third correction map. The system may output the frame with the adjusted pixel values to a display.

Dynamic uniformity correction

In one embodiment, a computing system may determine, for a current frame to be displayed and using an eye tracking system, a current eye position of a viewer. The system may determine a first array of scaling factors based on the determined current eye position of the viewer. The system may retrieve one or more second arrays of scaling factors used for correcting one or more proceeding frames of the current frame. The system may determine a third array of scaling factors based on the first array of scaling factors determined based on the current eye position and the one or more second arrays of scaling factors used for correcting the proceeding frames. The system may adjust pixel values of the current frame based at least on the third array of scaling factors. The system may output the current frame with the adjusted pixel values to a display.

Systems and methods for adjusting an image based on pupil size are disclosed. Particularly, a system for adjusting an image being presented on a display includes a processor. The processor is configured to identify a size of a pupil of a user viewing an image presented on the display, determine an intensity map based at least on the size of the pupil, and adjust the intensity values of at least a portion of the image using the intensity map. The intensity map indicates an amount of adjustment to intensity values of at least a portion of the image being displayed.

Systems and methods for image adjustment based on pupil size

A near-eye display (NED) using a pupil expander to expand an eyebox of the NED may suffer from local variations of throughput and color reproduction introduced by the pupil expander of the display. To offset or compensate these variations, the pupil expander, e.g. a pupil-replicating waveguide, may be characterized at a plurality of non-uniformly spaced grid of test points, with the test points disposed more densely at areas of high spatial variation of the throughput or color shift introduced by the pupil expander. The throughput or color shift may be integrated over at least a portion of the field of view of the NED. To determine the areas of high spatial variation, an initial test may be performed at uniformly spaced test grid locations.

Techniques disclosed herein relate generally to surface-relief structures. In one embodiment, a surface-relief grating includes a plurality of grating ridges. The plurality of grating ridges includes a first set of grating ridges characterized by a first refractive index, and a second set of grating ridges interleaved with the first set of grating ridges and characterized by a second refractive index different from the first refractive index. The plurality of grating ridges is imprinted in a polymer layer by a nanoimprint lithography process and is exposed to a light pattern to form the first set of grating ridges and the second set of grating ridges that have different refractive indices.
