An infinitely adjustable training mask for simulating the increased breathing resistance level at higher altitudes including an air-impermeable mask body covering the nose and mouth of the wearer, an infinitely adjustable inhalation resistance assembly extended through the mask body, a replaceable particulate air filter to provide respiratory protection when the wearer inhales, and a drinking device for hydration and consumption of foods. The inhalation resistance assembly contains a stationary aperture component and a rotating dial aperture component for adjusting the sizes of the overlapping inhalation adjustment apertures to achieve the desired breathing resistance level. Upon exhalation of the wearer, the exhaled air is discharged through a flexible one-way check valve controlled exhalation channel. A replaceable particulate air filter which can be easily placed inside or removed from the internal cavity of the infinitely adjustable inhalation resistance assembly helps to reduce inhalation exposures to airborne particles during outdoor training sessions. The drinking device enables the wearer to conveniently hydrate or consume foods without taking the mask off, thus allowing maximum amount of wear time to improve training efficiency. A strap is connected to the mask body to be positioned about the head of a wearer to securely maintain the mask during training.

The invention relates to nano-sized complexes formed by associating or attaching amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) and/or amorphous calcium fluoride phosphate (ACFP) with an amphiphilic polymer surfactant (APS) and a bioadhesive polymer. The bioadhesive polymer may serve as a connector or an anchor to attach the nano ACP-APS or ACFP-APS to the tooth surface and to chemically bond the calcium in the enamel to the calcium ions in the nano ACP-APS or ACFP-APS complexes, thus allowing for more controlled release of remineralizing components into the oral cavity. Methods of use of the composition and kits are also disclosed.

A disposable prophy angle is provided, the prophy angle comprising a housing containing a drive shaft and a driven shaft; the drive shaft having a proximal end and a distal end and a longitudinal axis therebetween, the distal end having a substantially conical driving portion and a projection, the proximal end of the drive shaft configured to engage a dental hand piece; and the driven shaft having a driven portion comprising a recess configured for engagement by the projection and/or the substantially conical portion of the drive shaft to oscillate the driven shaft at an oscillation angle greater than 90 degrees. In some embodiments, there is a method of making a disposable prophy angle by overmolding a prophy cup to the prophy angle. In other embodiments, there is a method of using the prophy angle to prevent tooth decay.

Prophy angle device and method of use

A dental syringe device that provides air and water to a dental patient. The device includes an adapter that connects a dental tip to a dental syringe body. The dental syringe body provides a conventional syringe body with a handle for a dentist to hold onto and a source of air and water. The tip delivers the air and water to the dental patient. The adapter is an improved adapter having a unique release and attachment component allowing for a quick connect and disconnect between the dental syringe body and the tip. The tip advantageously includes an inner portion with large and uniform air channels for smooth transfer of air and an outer portion made from a rigid plastic that provides an improved cheek retraction feature.

The invention relates to nano-sized complexes formed by associating amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) and/or amorphous calcium fluoride phosphate (ACFP) with an amphiphilic polymer surfactant. The amphiphilic polymer surfactants can form nano-sized assemblies in aqueous solution, serving as a nano dispersant preventing ACP and/or ACFP from aggregation, and as a nano carrier associating or attaching ACP and/or ACFP, stabilizing ACP and/or ACFP against the conversion to a crystalline form as well, thus maintaining calcium and phosphate/and fluoride ions in a bioavailable state for dental re-mineralization and prevention of dental caries, dental calculus and dental hyper-sensitivity. A method for the nano-sized complex preparation and compositions comprising the nano-sized complexes are also provided.

A multi-film delivery system for a multi-component tooth whitening, desensitization and remineralization composition is disclosed which comprises a first orally dissolvable film made of a liquid-soluble or liquid dispersible polymer system containing a peroxide activation compound or complex and desensitizing agents and/or remineralizing agents and/or anti-inflammatory agents, and a separate second undissolvable film containing a tooth whitening peroxide compound, such as hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide, stabilizers and thickeners, and/or desensitizing agents and/or remineralizing agents and/or anti-inflammatory agents, which, when applied together on teeth surfaces, the peroxide activation compound/complex on the first film activates the peroxide compound on the second film, and accelerates the release of active bleaching radicals for accelerated whitening action. The first and second films are maintained separate from one another until application. The first orally dissolvable film is placed on a surface of the tooth, then immediately hydrates thereby becoming gelatinous upon contact with saliva, and initiates its adhesiveness, the second undissolvable film is then placed on top of the first orally dissolvable film, the peroxide activation compound/complex on the first film reacts with the tooth whitening peroxygen compound on the second film and accelerates the release of active bleaching radicals for rapid whitening action. The dissolution of the first dissolvable film is controlled by interaction with the fluid or liquid contained in the whitening composition on the second undissolvable film.

A dental mixing device with a barrel, a mixing tip, and a plunger. The plunger moves dental material through the barrel where it is mixed using a mixing tip. The mixing tip includes an auto-aligning fitting female element configured to align with an auto-aligning fitting male element of the barrel. This auto-alignment simplifies the attachment between the mixing tip and the barrel. The mixing tip also includes a seal component with a soft material (or component) to insert into the auto-aligning fitting element which is a hard material (or component) to achieve a seal. The seal component and auto-alignment fitting element can be combined together into one component instead of two components.

A digital camera is provided having a lens for focusing light from an image through a RGB mosaiced filter on to a solid state photosensor array containing a matrix of CCDs. The CCDs provide a single-channel mosaiced image output. A demosaicing process includes a first color transformation after separation for determining luminance and a luminance interpolation for interpolation of missing luminance components. The demosaicing process further includes a second color transformation for obtaining chrominance components. A chrominance interpolation for interpolation of missing chrominance components and an inverse color transformation transforms the components into the RGB space for combination into an image output.

Demosaicing for digital imaging device using perceptually uniform color space

A method for efficiently optimizing the bin widths for a distribution or an image to be compressed. An image having symmetric uni-modal distribution is divided into a zero bin having a zero bin width and a plurality of outer bins having an outer bin width. M numbers of predetermined candidate values for the zero bin width and N numbers of predetermined candidate values for the outer bin width are provided. A zero bin probability is derived from an entropy function. The allowable zero bin width is calculated from the zero bin probability and target bit rate. The allowable zero bin width is then searched to obtain an optimum combination of the zero bin width and the outer bin width, the optimum combination being the combination having the least distortion measure. In one embodiment, a fast algorithm is used to search the outer bin width for each given zero bin width, reducing the required combination by a factor of logN/N. In one embodiment, the allowable zero bin width is a subset of M number of candidate values for the zero bin width. In one embodiment, the middle number of an interval is used as the quantization value. In another embodiment, the centroid of an interval is used as the quantization value.
