Techniques and examples of layer mapping, channel state information (CSI) feedback and hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback in mobile communications are described. A user equipment (UE) receives from a base station one or more reference signals, which may be non-zero power (NZP) or zero power (ZP), on one or more time-frequency resources indicated by a network via a communication link between the UE and the base station. The UE estimates, based on the receiving, a subspace spanned by a channel response of an interfering signal. The UE determines a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) based on the estimated subspace. The UE transmits to the base station a channel state information (CSI) feedback comprising at least the PMI. The PMI may include at least a first precoder and a second precoder.

Layer mapping, CSI feedback and HARQ feedback in mobile communications

Various solutions with respect to codebook-based uplink transmission in wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) stores information with respect to a plurality of permutations with respect to a mapping between a plurality of sounding reference signal (SRS) resources and a plurality of antenna ports at the UE. The UE receives signaling from a network node of a wireless network. The signaling contains an index identifying a permutation among the plurality of permutations. The UE performs an uplink transmission of data to the network node using one or more SRS resources of the plurality of SRS resources and one or more antenna ports of the plurality of antenna ports according to the identified permutation.

Codebook-based uplink transmission in wireless communications

Various solutions for cross-link interference measurements with respect to user equipment and network apparatus in mobile communications are described. A node of a wireless network may receive a cross-link interference (CLI) measurement configuration. The node may determine a measurement slot according to the CLI measurement configuration. The node may determine whether to perform a CLI measurement in the measurement slot according to the CLI measurement configuration. The node may receive a CLI reference signal (RS) in the measurement slot. The node may perform the CLI measurement in the measurement slot.

Method and apparatus for cross-link interference measurements in mobile communications

Various solutions with respect to multi-transmission and receiving points (TRP) and multi-panel transmission in wireless communications are described. A processor of a user equipment (UE) associated with a single media access control (MAC) entity receives signaling from a plurality of network nodes of a wireless network. The processor generates at least one feedback responsive to receiving the signaling. The processor transmits the at least one feedback to at least one network node of the plurality of network nodes.

Method and apparatus for multi-TRP and multi-panel transmission in wireless communications

Various solutions with respect to codebook-based uplink transmission in wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) receives a signal indicating codebook subset restriction (CBSR) from a network node of a wireless network. The UE selects one or more codewords or a codebook from a master codebook based on the CBSR. The master codebook includes codewords from multiple components. The UE then performs a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission to the network node using the one or more codewords or the codebook.

Various solutions with respect to codebook-based uplink transmission in wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) receives a first signal from a network node of a wireless network, with the first signal selecting one or more codewords or a codebook from a plurality of different codebooks within a master codebook as allowed precoders at transmission ranks. The UE also receives a second signal from the network node, with the second signal selecting a precoder among the allowed precoders for uplink (UL) transmission. The UE then processes data using the selected precoder and performs an UL transmission of the processed data to the network node.

Various solutions with respect to codebook-based uplink transmission in wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) constructs a precoder to be used to wirelessly communicate with a network node of a wireless network. The UE then performs an uplink (UL) transmission to the network node using the precoder via one or more of a plurality of antennas of the UE.

Various solutions for coordination information transmission with respect to user equipment (UE) and network apparatus in mobile communications are described. A UE may receive downlink control information comprising coordination information from a first node of a wireless network. The coordination information may comprise interference management information. The UE may copy the coordination information and embed the coordination information in uplink control information. The UE may further transmit the uplink control information to a second node of the wireless network.

Method and apparatus for coordination information transmission in mobile communications

Methods and apparatus are provided for control overhead reduction. The UE configures one or more short transmission time interval regions over a normal TTI region shared by the UE and one or more other, each UE includes a self-contained control information sPDCCH occupying a control information region. The UE detects a cover signal, which indicates one or more resource elements in the sPDCCH control-information region that can be used for data transmission. The UE obtains data transmission from the REs in the SPDCCH control information region based on the detected cover signal. In one embodiment, the cover signal is a dedicated signal. In another embodiment, the cover signal is a common signal. In yet another embodiment, the cover signal is encoded in a downlink control information (DCI) intended for the UE. In one embodiment, the cover signal indicates one or more CCE REs to be excluded for data transmission.

Efficient control and data multiplexing in communication systems

A physical random access channel (PRACH) waveform design to satisfy the requirements on the occupied channel bandwidth in eLAA wireless communications network is provided. In one alternative, PRACH comprises multiple segments in the time/frequency domain in one subframe. In another alternative, PRACH comprises multiple segments in the time/frequency domain across two or more subframes by using inter-subframe hopping. In one advantageous aspect, PDCCH triggers the dynamic allocation of the PRACH resource to facilitate the listen-before-talk (LBT) channel access procedure in unlicensed carriers. The aperiodic and dynamic allocation of PRACH resource improves efficiency and PRACH success rate.

Physical random access channel design in eLAA

Methods and apparatus are provided for transmission preemption and its indication. In one novel aspect, the UE receives a downlink resource assignment and determines whether an ultra-low latency (ULL) alert signal exists, wherein the ULL alert signal indicates a set of soft bits are overridden. The UE discards the set of soft bits from the overridden resources upon determining the ULL alert signal exists. In one embodiment, the ULL alert signal resides in the assignment subframe, and the overridden soft bits are in the assignment subframe. The alert timing for the ULL alert signal is preconfigured. In another embodiment, the ULL alert signal resides in a subframe that is right after the assignment subframe. The alert signal is enabled through an enabling of an enhanced mobile broadband and ULL service. The alter signal indicates a superset of the overridden soft bits or part of the overridden soft bits.

Transmission preemption and its indication

Methods and apparatus are provided for improved Licensed Assisted Access (LAA) networks. A LAA subframe is received via an unlicensed frequency band. Control information is communicated via predetermined symbol locations within the LAA subframe. An indication of a first and a second symbol locations is received. A LAA subframe is then received. It is determined if control information is present at the first or second symbol locations within the received LAA subframe. Demodulation parameters based on the control information are determined. The LAA subframe is demodulated using the demodulation parameters. An indication of a transmission duration is communicated to a UE. The transmission duration is determined based on the LAA subframe. A type of subframe is determined based on transmission duration. Automatic Gain Control (AGC) protection is provided in a LAA subframe. The AGC protection LLA subframe does not communicate control information in a symbol adjacent to a reservation signal.

Frame structure and data mapping for license assisted access

Aspects of the disclosure provide a method of data transmission that includes determining a transmission time interval for transmission of a transport block and setting a segmentation threshold for the transport block to a first threshold or a second threshold that is less than the first threshold based on the determined transmission time interval. The method includes converting the transport block into one or more outgoing code blocks that each has a size not greater than the determined segmentation threshold and encoding the one or more outgoing code blocks for transmission when communication device is configured to transmit the transport block. The method also includes receiving one or more incoming code blocks that each has a size not greater than the determined segmentation threshold and reconstructing the transport block from the one or more incoming code blocks when communication device is configured to receive the transport block.

Method and apparatus of data transmission by setting segmentation threshold based on transmission time interval

A method of dynamic spectrum sharing mechanism called listen-before-talk (LBT) is proposed for uplink transmission in Licensed Assisted Access (LAA). A maximum channel occupancy time (MCOT) including downlink (DL) transmission from one eNB and uplink (UL) transmission to the same eNB is introduced. A transmission sequence is defined as a number of subframes including possible partial subframes for DL and/or UL within a MCOT. The transmission in the first subframe among the transmission sequence is conducted after a Category 4 LBT. The transmission sequence within the MCOT can be initiated by either a DL transmission or an UL transmission. After the first subframe in a transmission sequence, LBT for another transmission is a fast DL LBT and/or fast UL LBT. Further, a Category 4 LBT can be converted to a short LBT (e.g., one shot CCA) for more efficient channel access.

Listen before talk channel access procedure for uplink LAA

Periodic Radio Resource Management (RRM) reporting from user equipments (UEs) is beneficial for a network to efficiently select a carrier with a cleaner channel to serve the UEs. To enable periodic RRM reporting from UEs, periodic beacon signal transmission for UE measurements is necessary. However, in a shared spectrum, precise periodic transmission cannot be guaranteed due to channel contention. A method of transmission with periodic time windows for beacon signal transmission is proposed to resolve potential issues. Under the proposed solution, beacon signal can be transmitted in a certain periodic fashion without frequent physical layer signaling. Furthermore, periodic beacon signal transmission for measurements can be kept with low transmission failure rate due to channel contention.
