An ultrasound imaging system include a console with transmit circuitry configured to generate an excitation electrical pulse that excites transducer elements of a probe to produce an ultrasound pressure field and configured to receive an echo signal generated in response to the ultrasound pressure field interacting with tissue. The console further includes receive circuitry configured to convert the echo signal into an electrical signal, and an echo processor configured to generate a live ultrasound image based on the electrical signal into. The console further includes a tracking processor configured to extract, in real-time, a feature common to both the live ultrasound image and previously generated volumetric image data from at least the live ultrasound image, and register, in real-time, the live ultrasound image with previously generated volumetric image data based on the common feature extracted in real-time to create the fused image. A display displays the fused image.

Image fusion-based tracking without a tracking sensor

An ultrasound imaging system includes receive circuitry () configured to receive electrical signals from ultrasound transducer elements wherein the electrical signals are indicative of sensed ultrasound echo signals. The system further includes an image process () configured to process the electrical signals and generate a 2-D image. The system further includes a vessel wall identifier () configured to identify at least a proximal wall and a distal wall of a vessel in the B-mode image from the B-image employing a signal mirroring technique. The system further includes a rendering engine () configured to display the 2-D image on a display () with graphical indicia corresponding to the identified proximal wall and distal wall superimposed over the vessel in the 2-D image.

2D ultrasound imaging with pulsed wave Doppler or color flow imaging

An ultrasound imaging system includes a transducer array with a plurality of transducer elements configured to transmit an ultrasound signal, receive echo signals produced in response to the ultrasound signal interacting with structure, and generate electrical signals indicative of the echo signals. The system further includes a beamformer configured to process the electrical signals and generate radio frequency data, an in-phase quadrature processor configured to process the radio frequency data and generate in-phase quadrature data, and a frame processor configured to envelope detect and log compress the in-phase quadrature data, producing compressed envelope data. The system further includes a time gain compensation controller configured to continuously process the in-phase quadrature data and the compressed envelope data and continuously and automatically apply time gain compensation data to an envelope data image. The system further includes a rendering engine configured to display, via a display, the time gain compensated envelope data image.

Automatic time gain compensation (TGC) in ultrasound imaging

A method includes receiving ultrasound echo signals produced in response to a pulsed ultrasound field interacting with anatomical tissue and flow of structure therein. The method further includes generating electrical signals indicative thereof. The method further includes beamforming the electrical signals producing beamformed data. The method further includes constructing a real-time image of the anatomical tissue with the beamformed data. The method further includes constructing a de-aliased color images of the flow with the beamformed data. The method further includes visually presenting the real-time image of the anatomical tissue with the de-aliased color images of the flow superimposed thereover.

Ultrasound color flow imaging

An ultrasound imaging system includes a biplane ultrasound probe and a console. The biplane ultrasound probe includes a sagittal array and a transverse array. The console includes a transmit circuit, a receive circuit, and an image generator. The transmit circuit is configured to control the sagittal and transverse arrays to emit ultrasound signals while the probe is manually rotated and translated. The receive circuit is configured to receive electrical signal produced by the sagittal and transverse arrays in response to the sagittal and transverse arrays receiving echoes produced in response to the corresponding ultrasound signals interreacting with structure. The image generator is configured to construct a three-dimensional image with the electrical signals from the sagittal or transverse array using the electrical signals from both the sagittal and transverse arrays to track the motion of the probe and align scanplanes.

An ultrasound imaging system () includes one or more transducing elements (). The ultrasound imaging system further includes a system controller () configured to control the one or more transducing elements to receive for a predetermined time duration without first transmitting and produce a noise only signal. The system controller is further configured to control the one or more transducing elements to transmit a set of pulses which causes the one or more transducing elements to transmit a pressures wave and receive echo waves generated in response to the transmitted pressures wave and produce an echo plus noise signal indicative thereof. The ultrasound imaging system further includes a noise processor () that compensates the echo plus noise signal with the noise only signal, creating a denoised signal, which is displayed.

Ultrasound imaging transducer electrical noise compensation

An ultrasound imaging system includes a beamformer configured to generate 2-D images offset from each other based on sweeping motion of a transducer array during a 3-D ultrasound imaging procedure producing volumetric data. The ultrasound imaging system further includes a 2-D mask processor configured to generate a 2-D mask image for each of the 2-D images. Each of the 2-D mask images includes a contour of a predetermined structure of interest in the volumetric data. The ultrasound imaging system further includes a 3-D mask processor configured to segment the structure from the 3-D image with the 2-D mask images, generating a 3-D segmentation.

Ultrasound three-dimensional (3-D) segmentation

An echo processor () for an ultrasound imaging device () includes a frame processor () that aligns a plurality (N) of sequentially received frames of echoes based on a set of motion displacement fields for the plurality of frames and combines the aligned plurality of sequentially received frames, thereby forming a compounded frame. A method includes obtaining a set of frames of echoes acquired at different times, determining a motion displacement field based on at least two of the frames of the set, motion-compensating all of the frames of the set based on the displacement field and previously determined displacement fields, and generating a compounded frame based on the motion-compensated frames.

Motion-compensated ultrasound images

An ultrasound imaging system includes an image processor and a velocity processor configured to process beamformed ultrasound data representing structure flowing through a tubular object and generate, respectively, an image indicative of the tubular object and vector flow imaging data indicative of the structure flowing through the tubular object. The system further includes a segmentation processor configured to segment the tubular object from the image based on a combination of both the vector flow imaging data and the image, wherein a resulting segmentation extends from wall-to-wall of the tubular object. The system further includes a display configured to display the image with the segmentation and the vector flow imaging data superimposed thereover, with the vector flow imaging data extending from wall-to-wall within the tubular object. An ultrasound focal zone display includes an image area for displaying an ultrasound image, a plurality of depth markers, the plurality of depth markers representative of a predetermined tissue depth of the displayed ultrasound image, a focus indicator representative of a maximum acoustic beam intensity of the displayed ultrasound image, and a focal zone extent representative of acoustic beam intensity values within a predetermined range below the maximum acoustic beam intensity value, the focus indicator being adjacent or overlapping the focal zone extent, the position of the focus indicator being asymmetrical relative to the focal zone extent.

Ultrasound focal zone system and method

An ultrasound imaging system includes an ultrasound transducer array that receives a set of echo signals produced in response to an ultrasound signal traversing flowing structure in a portion of a tubular structure of an object or subject in an imaging field of view. An image processor processes the set of echo signals and generates a structure image. A color flow processor processes the set of echo signals and generates a color flow image indicative of a flow of the flowing structure in the portion of the tubular structure, including a flow direction and a flow magnitude of the flowing structure. A color flow corrector corrects the color flow image for at least one of color noise artifact or color flash artifact, producing a corrected color flow image. A video processor displays the structure image and the corrected color flow image superimposed over the structure image.
