Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications network, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes determining a reporting quality threshold for a parameter related to channel state information (CSI); performing a measurement for each of a plurality of beams from a first predetermined set of beams for evaluation; evaluating the measurement for each of the plurality of beams against the reporting quality threshold; discontinuing the performing and evaluating of measurements in response to determining that the reporting quality threshold is met for one of the beams, such that one or more beams in the first predetermined set of beams are not measured and evaluated; and reporting, to the wireless communications network, CSI for the one of the beams.

Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes receiving a downlink signal comprising an uplink access configuration index, using the uplink access configuration index to identify an uplink access configuration from among a predetermined plurality of uplink access configurations, and transmitting to the wireless communications network according to the identified uplink access configuration. The example method further includes, in the same wireless device, receiving, in a first subframe, a first Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (OFDM) transmission formatted according to a first numerology and receiving, in a second subframe, a second OFDM transmission formatted according to a second numerology, the second numerology differing from the first numerology. Variants of this method, corresponding apparatuses, and corresponding network-side methods and apparatuses are also disclosed.

A user equipment receives a signal indicating a time schedule for intermittent transmission of information from a base station managing a cell. The intermittent transmission of information enables the UE to perform mobility measurements when the cell is in a discontinuous transmission (DTX) mode and the UE is an active terminal not served by the cell. The UE performs, based on the intermittent transmission of information, a mobility measurement when the cell is in the DTX mode and reports the mobility measurement to the base station.

Controlling energy consumption of a wireless network node

A method and a network node () for enabling wireless communication with a wireless device (), wherein no more than a pre-determined maximum total transmit power is available for downlink transmission by the network node (). When detecting that the wireless device () requires an extended transmission range (B) which is larger than a nominal transmission range (A), a boosted transmit power is determined and used for transmitting a first set of channels and/or signals to be used by the wireless device () to achieve the extended transmission range (B). An attenuated transmit power is also determined and used for transmitting a second set of channels and/or signals not included in the first set of channels and/or signals, which provides a slightly reduced transmission range (C) for the second set. The boosted transmit power is thus higher than a nominal transmit power, and the attenuated transmit power is lower than the nominal transmit power, so that the total transmit power used for transmitting said first and second sets does not exceed the pre-determined maximum total transmit power.

Method and network node for enabling wireless communication with a wireless device

A method and a first device (A) for synchronizing a first clock in the first device (A) with a second clock in a second device (B). The first device (A) estimates 5 (A) a relative clock phase offset, based on a sequence of round trip times, RTTs, of precision time protocol, PTP, messages which are exchanged between the first and second devices (A,B). The estimated relative clock phase offset is a time difference between a time of arrival of a first arrived PTP message among the PTP messages and a direct subsequent clock cycle. The first device (A) further determines 10 (A) a clock value of the first clock, based on the estimated relative clock phase offset, to synchronize the first clock with the second clock.

The radio network node is configured to: Identify wireless devices associated with common properties of one or more predetermined property types. An arrangement for controlling energy consumption of a network node associated with a cell includes a terminal activity monitor configured to detect active terminals served by the cell. A transmission controller is connected to the terminal activity monitor and is configured to restrict transmission downlink in the cell during time periods when there are no active terminals served by the cell. During these time periods transmission is restricted to intermittent transmission of information assisting active terminals not served by the cell in finding the cell.

A first communications device and a method therein for handling of active mode operation after transmitting data to a second communications device. The first and the second communications devices are operating in a wireless communications network. The first communications device transmits a first data transmission to the second communications device and enters a sleep mode. At a number of points in time, the first communications device temporarily wakes up from the sleep mode to an active mode for an active mode period. Further, the first communications device indicates, to the second communications device, a point of time of the active mode period.

First communications device and a method therein for handling of active mode operation

There is provided a method of handling interference caused by inter-modulation in a network node site comprising a set of network nodes for wireless communication capable of communication with a set of stations for wireless communication. The stations are wireless transceiver devices and communication from the network node to any of the stations is considered to be downlink communication and communication from any of the stations is considered to be uplink communication. The method comprises detecting likely passive intermodulation, determining at least one station having an uplink resource being a likely to be affected by the detected likely passive intermodulation, and limiting downlink transmission, when the determined at least one station is scheduled or expected to transmit on the uplink resource, on a downlink resource likely to be affecting the uplink resource by the detected likely passive intermodulation. A computer program, a controller and a network node site are also disclosed.

Method and apparatus for handling interference caused by inter-modulation

A method and network node for enabling mobility measurements performed by wireless devices. A set of resource blocks are distributed across an available frequency bandwidth, and a pre-defined maximum average transmit power per resource block is available for transmission by the network node. The network node transmits (A) a subset of resource blocks using a first transmit power per resource block which is higher than the pre-defined maximum average transmit power per resource block. The network node also transmits (B) other resource blocks in the set not included in the subset using a second transmit power per resource block which is lower than the pre-defined maximum average transmit power per resource block so that the total transmit power used for transmitting the set of resource blocks does not exceed a total available maximum transmit power.

Method and network node for enabling measurements on reference signals

A method of a base station to transmit information on an ancillary channel includes encoding a set of bits from input information as a codeword, selecting a subset of active antennas that map to the codeword, and transmitting at least one main channel payload on each antenna of the selected subset of active antennas with one of a plurality of different dedicated pilot signals associated with each respective one of the antennas of the selected subset of active antennas.

An approach of handling interference caused by inter-modulation in a network node for wireless communication capable of communication with a set of stations for wireless communication is disclosed. The stations are wireless transceiver devices and communication from the network node to any of the stations is considered to be downlink communication performed on a downlink carrier in a downlink carrier frequency band and communication from any of the stations is considered to be uplink communication performed on an uplink carrier in an uplink carrier frequency band. The method comprises, when an interference level indicates probable inter-modulation interference, scheduling uplink transmission grants for a plurality of stations of a subset of the stations within a time interval, such that scheduling outside the time interval is reduced. The uplink transmission grants are valid for the time interval, wherein the scheduling uplink transmission grants is performed by adapting a schedule for at least one station of the plurality of stations of the subset of the stations to fall within the time interval. The method further comprises transmitting the uplink transmission grant to the plurality of stations of the subset of stations, assigning limited transmissions on the downlink carrier frequency band at the time interval such that inter-modulation interference is reduced on the uplink carrier frequency band during the time interval, and assigning transmissions on the downlink carrier frequency band outside the time interval with less limitations than during the time interval. The approach comprises methods, network nodes, computer programs and network node sites.

Methods of handling inter-modulation products interference at a network node or at a co-located network node site

A mixed numerology OFDM system is presented herein relative to a first OFDM numerology having a first subcarrier spacing and associated with a first signal having a first length. A second signal having a second length and associated with a second OFDM numerology having a second subcarrier spacing greater than the first subcarrier spacing is generated by generating a sub-frame comprising redundant data appended to each of a plurality of OFDM symbols and generating the second signal by appending group redundant data to the sub-frame such that the second length equals the first length. The number of OFDM symbols in the sub-frame is selected such that a length of the sub-frame is as large as possible without exceeding the length of the first OFDM symbol in the first signal. The receiver may extract the first the first and second signals from a received composite signal using a single FFT.
