Focusing devices and methods for controlling a focal position of an objective lens assembly in a night vision optical device are provided. The focusing device includes an objective lens assembly positioned at a first or second focus position from an imaging device and a binary focus controller, coupled to the objective lens assembly, configured to translate the objective lens assembly relative to the imaging device to either the first or second focus position. The objective lens assembly is translated to either the first or second focus position in response to an orientation of the night vision optical device.

System and method for binary focus in night vision devices

Systems and methods for viewing image data. The system includes a head borne image source, a controller, an eyepiece lens assembly and a display device. The head borne image source images an object and provides the image data. The controller determines a focus adjustment from a focus position of the head borne image source. The display device receives and displays the image data to a user's eye via the eyepiece lens assembly. A distance between the eyepiece lens assembly and the display device is adjusted based on the focus adjustment responsive to the focus position.

System and method for dynamically enhancing depth perception in head borne video systems

System and methods for distinguishing a laser aiming spot associated with a particular firearm from other laser aiming spots are disclosed. The laser aiming spot may be distinguished by imaging a field of view, the field of view including the laser aiming spot and the other laser aiming spots, identifying the laser aiming spot associated with the particular firearm within the imaged field of view, modifying the imaged field of view to distinguish the identified laser aiming spot from the other laser aiming spots, and displaying the modified imaged field of view.

A dynamically corrected parallax system includes a head borne video source for imaging an object and providing video data. A controller electronically offsets the video data provided from the head borne video source to form offset video data. A display device receives the offset video data and displays the offset video data to a user's eye. The display device is configured for placement directly in front of the user's eye as a vision aid, and the head borne video source is configured for displacement to a side of the user's eye. The offset video data corrects parallax due to horizontal and/or vertical displacement between the display device and the head borne video source.

System and method for dynamically correcting parallax in head borne video systems

A mounting assembly for a vision enhancement device and associated vision enhancement display, the assembly comprising a display mounted to an arm positionable in front of the user's eye, a base member for receiving a cradle for the vision enhancement device and for attaching to a head-mounting platform, and one or more intermediate members for connecting the arm to the cradle. In one embodiment, the mounting system comprises one or more mechanisms for aligning the display optical axis with the vision enhancement device optical axis and with the user's line of sight, one or more mechanisms for orienting the vision enhancement device within multiple degrees of freedom without changing the alignment of the display optical axis with the device optical axis, and one or more mechanisms for toggling the display between an in-use position to at least one storage position, and, optionally, between right eye and left eye positions.

The optical device comprises a plurality of optical channels positioned adjacent one another, each optical channel having an image detector and a complimentary objective lens spaced by a respective distance. Headmount apparatus for attaching and supporting devices

A method of mounting a fiber optic unit to a photosensor. The photosensor is mounted to a first carrier. A first end of the fiber optic unit is bonded to the photosensor to create a joint between the fiber optic unit and the photosensor. A second end of the fiber optic unit is mounted to a second carrier. The joint between the fiber optic unit and the photosensor is compressed. This compressing step strengthens the bond between the fiber optic unit and the photosensor.
