A fan is positioned within the cleaning chamber and configured to generate an airflow to direct the extraneous plant matter toward the first outlet. A supplemental air attachment may positioned to promote the extraction of extraneous plant matter. A billet deflector may be located between the inlet and the basket and configured to direct the billet material toward the basket.

A cleaning and debris management system that separates debris from billet leaf bundles in a harvester. The system includes an elevator and one or more air sources. The elevator includes first and second sections that meet at transition points. The air sources include upward and lateral sources located at the transition points to blow air through the bundles as they move across the transition points from the first to the second section. The air blown by the air sources spreads out the bundles and separates the debris. The elevator can cause the bundles to become airborne at the transition points, and the air sources can blow air through the airborne bundles. The system can include a hood where an air source blows air into a base and out an outlet of the hood to blow some of the debris out of the outlet.

A controller is programmed to activate the actuation mechanism to adjust the position of the billet deflector based on the signal.

An extractor is operatively connected to the cutter, and includes a fan housing having an inlet configured to receive the sugarcane mat and an outlet configured to discharge crop debris. A fan is located in the fan housing to move the sugarcane mat through the fan housing and includes a motor, blades rotatably coupled to the motor, and a blade angle of incidence mechanism operatively connected to the blades, wherein the blade angle of incidence mechanism adjusts the angle of incidence of the blades with respect to the motor. Sensors identify an air flow through the fan housing or a load placed on the motor during movement of the sugarcane mat through the fan housing. The angle of incidence of the blades is adjusted based on one or both of the air flow through the fan housing or the load placed on the motor.

A harvester includes a main frame supported on a ground surface for transport along the ground surface, an inlet for receiving a crop, and a separator for separating the crop into a first portion and a second portion. The separator includes a hood having an outlet, and a fan operable to generate an airflow through the outlet. The hood of the separator is movable relative to the main frame between a transport position and a harvest position. In the transport position, the hood is positioned at a first height above the ground surface. In the harvest position, the hood is positioned at a second height, greater than the first height, above the ground surface.

A cleaning arrangement for a sugarcane harvester with a cleaning chamber includes a deflector body with at least one deflection surface at least partly facing a feed stream of cane billets and other material from a feed train of a sugarcane harvester. The deflector body may be fixed to the sugarcane harvester such that the at least one deflection surface extends at least partly within the cleaning chamber. As the feed train moves the feed stream to the cleaning chamber, the at least one deflection surface may deflect at least a portion of the feed stream within the cleaning chamber.
