A method for reading fingerprints is disclosed. The method comprises acquiring images of a fingerprint from a finger upon relative movement between the finger and an image sensor; selecting lines from said acquired images representing a new area of said fingerprint; determining composition parameters for each selected line: and storing said composition parameters and said selected lines such that a composite image comprising said selected lines is composabte. A corresponding fingerprint reading apparatus, a device, and a computer program are also disclosed.

Sequential image alignment

A method for creating a representation of a fingerprint is disclosed. The method comprises creating unique pairs of minutiae points identified in the fingerprint, each pair of minutiae points being represented by a distance between the minutiae points and by angles associated with the respective minutiae points included in the pair. Moreover, methods are disclosed for use in checking a person's identity and in creating reference data for checking a person's identify. Moreover, computer program products and devices for carrying out the methods are disclosed.

Methods, computer program products and devices for check of identity

In a method for use in checking a person's identity, at least part of an image of a fingerprint from the person is transformed so that a representation of a frequency content in said part of the image is obtained. Based on the obtained representation of the frequency content, a frequency code is determined, which contains a predetermined number of frequency code values. A device for carrying out the method is also described.

Method and device for identity check using frequency analysis

In a method of preventing false acceptance in a system for checking fingerprints, a latent fingerprint on the sensor () is detected by the location of a currently recorded fingerprint being compared with the location of a previously recorded fingerprint. If the location essentially corresponds, the recorded fingerprint is considered as originating from a latent fingerprint, and the fingerprint is rejected. Otherwise, the fingerprint is considered as originating from an actual finger on the sensor.
