First and second users subscribe to respectively first and second mobile telecommunications services provided by first and second operator respectively. Respective user trusts the operator to perform operations in a private user domain such as a payment account. In response to first operator receiving from first user a message ordering execution of specified transaction, e.g. an SMS.message, the message is intercepted and forwarded to analysis unit. First and second operations are determined and intercepted message is amended and forwarded to second user who returns, to second operator, a response message indicating, e.g., acceptance of indicated operations. First and second operators, mutually trusted, exchange control information over a secure channel to prepare for execution of first and second operations in respective private domains. In response to second operator receiving an acceptance message from the second user, the first and second operations are executed in respective private domain. Confirmation of executed operations is sent to first and second user. Various embodiments are described including payment for merchandise.

Parallel coordinated operations in private domains

Users, who have simultaneous access to a plurality of terminal devices, can enter into a multimedia, multiterminal user session. In a negotiation phase users agree on which media to use in a multimedia session and select the most appropriate types of terminal devices that support the selected media. Each terminal device is connected to one of a plurality of interworking communications networks. A network node () that is reached through any of the plurality of interworking networks manages creation and supervision of sub-sessions involving the selected terminal devices such that each type of terminal device carry at least one selected media. A versatile and media rich communication is obtained in which terminal devices currently available at a local environment are efficiently used.

Method and arrangement for multimedia communication

The invention relates to a method, devices and system for transit of information over packet switched networks, in particular for transit of an end-to-end connection over a plurality of such networks (&#x2033;) using a transit method that is independent on the network technology used in the different networks. An end-to-end service node () selects the networks and links an end-to-end connection shall traverse. To each network an incoming transit node () and an outgoing transit node () are connected. Between these a leg of the end-to-end connection is transited. The outgoing transit node has a list () of transit tags used for identification of a packet flow related to the connection. A transit tag is selected from the list and is signalled to the incoming transit node together with the local address of the outgoing transit node. At the incoming transit node incoming packets are analyzed with regard to the presence of a local identifier (e.g. called a link tag). In the incoming transit node packets with the local identifier are subjected to a special treatment. Its payload is put in the payload of a new packet that is formatted according to the network technology used in the network, and as destination of the new packet is the address of the outgoing transit node used. The new packet is marked with the transit tag. Finally the new packet is injected into the network and is routed therein according to that network's routing mechanisms. When the new packet arrives at the outgoing transit node its transit tag is used as incoming identifier.

Mobile radio telephone service is provided to a plurality of members of a subscriber group. Members of the subscriber group, which may comprise, for example, members of a family or employees of a small business, share a single subscription to the mobile radio telephone network which subscription limits the number of traffic channels which can be simultaneously occupied by the members. The group subscription avoids each of the individual members having to have a separate mobile radio system subscription and at the same time allows the network operator to spread subscriber traffic over a larger period of time during the day.

A subscriber associated with a private branch exchange (PBX) terminal without a Direct-Inward-Dialing (DID) line establishes a first call connection with a particular service node via a mobile station. The subscriber then instructs the service node to originate a second call connection from the service node towards the PBX serving said subscriber. The first and second call connections are interfaced to enable the subscriber to communicate with a PBX operator answering the second call connection. The subscriber then instructs the operator to forward the received call to the subscriber's PBX terminal. Thereafter, the subscriber instructs the service node to originate a third call connection towards a particular called party terminal. The established third call connection is interfaced with the second call connection to enable the subscriber to communicate with the called party subscriber terminal via the PBX terminal. The first call connection with the mobile station is terminated. Since no outgoing call connection has been originated by the PBX, no additional PBX associated charges are incurred by the subscriber for the communication.

The present invention relates to a multinetwork communication method for telecommunication in an environment which includes a number of different telecommunications networks, using a multinetwork terminal intended for communication in the various telecommunications networks. The invention is characterized in that the multinetwork terminal (25) itself detects those telecommunications networks to which it has access. On the basis of predetermined decision criterions, the multinetwork terminal itself decides in which of the accessible telecommunications networks communication shall take place. The invention also relates to a multinetwork terminal having a control unit (32) and network switching means controlled by the control unit for activation of communication devices (30, 31) in the selected telecommunications network.

A mobile telephone is used to control the routing of an incoming or outgoing call in a mobile communications network. A number of registration devices having low energy transmitters are strategically located throughout the coverage area of the mobile communications network. Each registration device is associated with a number of nearby fixed telephones. As the mobile terminal enters the coverage area of a registration device, the mobile telephone receives a registration signal from the registration device. At the onset of a call, the mobile terminal displays a list of the fixed telephones to a user. The user inputs a preference to the mobile terminal to receive or make the incoming or outgoing call via one of the nearby fixed telephones or the mobile terminal. The mobile terminal transmits the preference to a service node, which sets up and appropriately routes the call. The mobile terminal thus remotely controls the routing of the incoming or outgoing call.

A paging method in which a first user wishes to page and transmit a message to a second user with the aid of a paging service. The first user requests paging of the second user at a paging central which offers an alerting service and a message service which supplements the alert with the message. The paging central alerts the second user by means of the alerting service. The paging service is not associated with any particular telecommunication network, but can be performed in at least one telecommunication network chosen from among at least two possible telecommunication networks. The message service is also made independent of the alerting service, in that the message service is not activated until a request to do so is received from the aforesaid first telecommunication network while the message service utilizes at least one telecommunication network which is selectively different from the first-mentioned network. The message is not transmitted until the aforementioned request is received.

A mobile radio network includes a number of mobile radio systems, each having a mobile radio services switching center which conveys calls between a number of cordless subscribers and a public switched telephone network which is common to the mobile radio systems which convey calls between a number of cordless subscribers, and a public switched telephone network which is common to the mobile radio systems which convey calls between wire-connected subscribers and also to the cordless subscribers via the mobile radio switching centers. If a cordless subscriber has roamed from its home system to a visitor system, a call from a third system can be transferred generally over the home system and the public network to the subscriber. A service node is assigned to each of the mobile radio systems and each such node keeps an account of where the home subscribers of respective mobile radio systems are located and, in cooperation with other service nodes, can connect a call from a subscriber in the third mobile radio system to the roaming subscriber without needing to load the remaining systems. The system also includes corresponding connection procedures, a subscriber telephone set and a method of registration in the network.

Authorization for a user to use a service is provided by a modified pager which calculates a unique response code to a transmitted challenge code based on the challenge code, an input personal identification number, and an internal key. The response code is input to a simple terminal, such as a telephone and if the unique response code is acceptable, the user may access the desired service, such as cashless transactions or long distance phone service.

The first user in each telecommunication network has an address which is used by the foreign users when making a call. The intermediary communicates as the receiving party to the calling party, in accordance with predetermined instructions given by the first user. The intermediary either performs an predetermined procedure or establishes communication with the first user in accordance with the instructions given.
