A method for carrying out a health check of at least two cameras comprising the steps of initiating a health check process and checking, in response to the initiating step, for motion events stored in a database storing motion events, for each of the two cameras. If the checking for motion events indicates that a motion event has been stored in the database for one of the at least two cameras, then the method further comprises the steps of selecting a motion event found when checking for motion events stored in the database and retrieving a video clip corresponding to the selected motion event, captured by the one of the at least two cameras. The method further comprises the step of displaying the retrieved video clip together with a corresponding camera identification for evaluation.

Method for carrying out a health check of cameras and a camera system

A method and apparatus for storing video data includes three or more cameras and a storage space. The storage space is partitioned into an initial set of allotted portions for storing video data captured by the video cameras. A video quality value is set for encoding video by each camera, and it is periodically determined whether maintaining the video quality value would cause the camera to exceed the allotted portion of storage space. If it is determined that the amount of video data for a camera exceeds its allotment of space, the video quality is reduced. If it is determined that the video quality from a camera falls below a quality threshold, the storage space is re-partitioned into which increased storage space is allotted to the camera having a video quality that falls below the threshold value, and decreased storage space is allotted to at least one other camera.

A control device for controlling an electronic device over a communication network; the electronic device comprises data storage having control parameters and associated access levels which control operation of the electronic device; circuitry which generates a control setup message including the control parameters and access levels; and a network interface for sending the control setup message. The control device comprises: circuitry for determining an access level of a user logged in to the control device; a network interface for receiving the control setup message; control interface setup circuitry for generating a set of control parameters, extract control parameters having an access level equal to or lower than the access level of the user logged in to the control device; and a graphic generating circuitry for generating a graphical control interface comprising control graphics enabling control of different states of operation of the electronic device corresponding to the extracted control parameters.

A method, video server, and system for playing back recorded video based on comparing the encoder frame rates at temporal positions of a received video sequence to a predetermined threshold and changing the playback frame rate to a playback frame rate greater than the encoder frame rate if the encoder frame rate is below the predetermined threshold and changing the playback frame rate to the encoder frame rate if the encoder frame rate is greater than the predetermined threshold. The recorded video is thereby played back in a time efficient manner, decreasing the total time period for video playback, and assisting a security operator in finding parts of the recorded video that may be of interest.

Method and system for playing back recorded video

Focusing of a monitoring camera () with day and night functionality comprises selecting a focusing day mode or a focusing night mode based on the camera being in day mode or night mode. In focusing day mode, an IR laser range meter () will measure a reference distance continuously, and in the focusing night mode the IR laser range meter will only measure reference distance in response to a focus trigger signal being activated, and during a predetermined time period. The focus distance of the camera is set based on the measured reference distance.

A method and an apparatus for playing back recorded video from a temporal position within a temporal range of the recorded video is disclosed. The recorded video including intra frames and inter frames and the recorded video including video sequences having different frame rates. The method comprises receiving a request for playing back the recorded video from a specific temporal position recorded in the recorded video, identifying an intra frame at an earlier temporal position in the recorded video than the specific temporal position received in the request, playing back the recorded video in a first mode from the identified intra frame, and playing back the recorded video in a second mode from the specific temporal position in the recorded video when the playing back of the recorded video in the first mode have arrived at the specific temporal position of in the recorded video.
