A drug delivery device () for delivering a fixed dose, wherein the drug delivery device comprises: a housing assembly, a drug reservoir with a piston and a drive mechanism. The drive mechanism comprises a piston rod () for advancing the piston to expel a drug, and a drive tube (), wherein the drive mechanism is adapted to deliver the predefined fixed dose in response to activation. The drug delivery device further comprises an activation mechanism for activating the drive mechanism, in response to moving the drive tube in an axial direction. The housing assembly comprises a guide structure for guiding the drive tube during activation and delivery of a dose, wherein the guide structure comprises an axial portion () providing a sliding surface for guiding the drive tube during activation, and for providing a rotational stop defining an end of dose, and a helical portion () providing a sliding surface adapted for guiding the drive tube () during dosing. The drive tube () comprises a guide structure comprising an axial portion () adapted for slidably engaging the axial portion of the housing assembly for activation, and a helical portion () for slidably engaging the helical portion of the housing assembly during dosing during dosing.

Drug delivery device for delivering a predefined fixed dose

The invention relates to an injection device comprising an End-of-Content mechanism. The End-of-Content mechanism comprises a piston rod () being driven forward by a rotatable piston rod guide (), a driver () attached to a dose setting tube () and an End-of-Content tube (). The End-of-Content tube is moved axially forward during dose setting a distance which correlates to the size of the dose being set. When the accumulated set and ejected dose equals the injectable amount initially available in the cartridge (), the End-of-Content tube engages a lock mechanism provided in the piston rod guide and the driver engages a stop surface on the End-of-Content tube. Once the End-of-Content mechanism is locked, no further dose can be set and the piston rod guide cannot be rotated. In order to provide a proper engagement between the piston rod guide and the driver, the End-of-Content mechanism is released during dose expelling.

The present invention concerns a medical injection device for apportioning set doses of a preservative containing liquid drug. The injection device comprises a housing supporting a cartridge containing the preservative containing liquid drug and a needle cannula for transferring the liquid drug from the cartridge and through the skin of a user. Further, a needle shield which is axially movable in relation to the housing is also present. The axially movable shield carries a cleaning reservoir for cleaning at least the tip of the needle cannula between subsequent injections and the cleaning reservoir is preferably filled with preservative containing liquid drug directly from the cartridge upon initiation of the injection device. In order to eliminate any overpressure being built up inside the cleaning reservoir during the filling process, the cleaning reservoir is provided with an outlet configured to be permanently sealed by a user activated operation.

The invention relates to an injection system or a needle assembly in which a needle cannula secured to an injection device is shielded by a axially movable needle shield. Should the needle cannula be exposed to a force above a predetermined value e.g. if a user drops the injection device onto a hard surface, a locking mechanism will automatically lock and block further movement of the axially movable needle shield and thus render the injection device unusable.

Drug delivery device adapted to receive a drug-filled cartridge comprises a piston drive member for expelling a dose of drug from a loaded cartridge, a motor for driving the piston drive member, a rechargeable electric power source, an electrical connector allowing an external connector of a power source to be connected for recharging the power source, and a controller for controlling operation of the motor. The controller is adapted to detect a condition indicative of an external power source being connected to the electrical connector and subsequently disable the expelling assembly to thereby prevent that drug can be expelled from a loaded cartridge when an external power source has been connected to the electrical connector.

Drug delivery device adapted to receive a cartridge, comprising a drive tube with an inner thread, a motor assembly comprising a drive shaft and being adapted to be received inside the drive tube, a drive member attached to the drive shaft and with an outer thread in engagement with the drive tube inner thread. The drive tube is arranged axially displaceable but non-rotational relative to the motor assembly, whereby rotation of the drive member results in axial, non-rotational displacement of the drive tube. To provide flexibility the drive shaft is connected to the drive member via a first flexible joint, and the motor assembly proximal portion is connected to a support structure via a second flexible joint.
