A spray applicator () for spraying a fluid onto a web (W) of material has a first group of spray nozzles (A) arranged along a first axis (FA) and a second group of spray nozzles (A) arranged along a second axis (SA). The first (FA) and second (SA) spray nozzle axes are arranged on the same side of a plane in which the web (W) is run. Each spray nozzle (A,A) has an elongated spray opening configured to spray fluid in a direction towards the web (W). The first spray nozzle opening of the first group of spray nozzles (A) has an inclination angle which differs from the second nozzle opening inclination angle of the second group of spray nozzles (A).

A cleaning fabric wound on a roll () is used for cleaning printing cylinders () of a printing system (). The cleaning fabric () includes a liquid absorbable material configured to be soaked with a cleaning liquid containing a polar additive configured to make the cleaning liquid polar. The air cap is divided into a back component comprising an internal thread, and a front component comprising the slit. The components are rotatable relative to one another.

A spray dampening device for spraying fountain solution on a rotating roller (,) in a printing press has a spray casing (,) to be mounted in the vicinity of the roller and a spray beam (,) with a number of spray valves (,). The spray beam is at each end attached to the spray casing, which is fixedly mounted to the printing press frame (,), by means of a mounting bracket (,) allowing longitudinal adjustment of the spray beams and thus the spray valves in relation to the fixed spray casing.

A spray dampener for a printing press has a row of spray nozzles (5) for spraying liquid on a roller (3). A shutter device (14) for mechanically screening off part of or the whole spray cone is arranged at a nozzle towards the end of the roller. The shutter device is a shield (14), attached to a shaft (11) rotatably arranged at the side of the nozzle facing the end of the roller.

The invention relates to a method for removing printing ink from guide rollers in a printing press. As a paper web moves along its normal path through the printing press while printing is suspended, a printing ink solvent is sprayed onto the paper web, either upstream or downstream of a printing machine. The printing ink deposits on the rollers are dissolved by the solvent as the sprayed paper web passes over the rollers, and the dissolved printing ink is then wiped from the rollers with a nonsprayed part of the paper web. In accordance with one preferred embodiment, the solvent is sprayed onto the paper web in one or more sinusoidal paths and the guide rollers are subsequently braked, preferably to a complete stop and preferably pulse-wise when the sprayed part of the web and the wiping part of the web passes over the rollers. The duration of the pulses is adapted to the desired cleaning effect.

Method and arrangement for cleaning guide rollers

A pulsed spray dampener system wherein, during low press speeds, nozzles are controlled to release pulses of dampening fluid having a fixed pulse width and fluid output is adjusted by varying the interval between dampener pulses. During high speed operation, the interval between pulses is fixed and pulse width is varied. Furthermore, the outermost nozzles of a spray bar are operated by dedicated control channels to permit better spray patterns.

Control method and apparatus for spray dampener

A sprayer assembly comprises a nozzle section and a valve section. The nozzle section includes a valve housing having a valve element at its front end defining a spray outlet, and a valve seat inserted into its rear end. The valve section includes a plunger reciprocably mounted in a solenoid, and a valve stem mounted coaxially in a front end of the plunger for engaging the valve seat. The valve stem can be replaced by removing the valve section and pulling the stem out of the plunger.
