A system for sharing a USB Key by multiple virtual machines located at different hosts including at least two virtual machine managers, each virtual machine manager including a virtual machine transceiver module which is configured to receive a request for accessing a USB Key from a virtual machine within its host; a storage module which is configured to store an association relationship between a USB Key and the virtual machine authenticated by the USB Key; a verification module which is configured to, in response to judging that the virtual machine of the received request can access the USB Key, transmit the request for accessing the USB Key to a USB Key transceiver module of a virtual machine manager of the host where the USB Key is located; and a USB Key transceiver module which is configured to receive a request for accessing a USB Key, and to transmit an access request to a connected USB Key.

Embodiments of the present invention disclose a method, computer program product, and system for managing activation keys associated with a computing system. In one embodiment, in accordance with the present invention, the computer implemented method includes the steps of detecting a repair activity on a computing system, determining whether at least one system identifier (ID) associated with a component of the computing system has changed in comparison to system IDs associated with components of the computing system before the detected repair activity, responsive to determining that at least one system ID associated with a component of the computing system has changed, retrieving one or more activation keys that correspond to the determined at least one system ID, and determining whether the one or more retrieved activation keys are associated with a system ID that does not match any system ID associated with a component of the computing system.

An electronic system may include a passive component of a connector; a detecting unit configured to detect presence of an active component of the connector in at least three points not in the same line on the passive component of the connector; and a connection status determining unit configured to determine a connection status of said connector based upon detecting results of the at least three points on the passive component of the connector. A connection problem of the connector can be identified, including identification of the type of connection failure.

Method and system for installing an operating system (OS) in a host computer system. The method comprises: receiving user parameters required during OS installation in a pre-boot execution environment and generating an unattended installation pack; transferring the unattended installation pack to a baseboard management controller (BMC); sending a control command to the BMC to instruct the BMC to mount the installation pack as a universal serial bus (USB) key; and installing the OS in the host in response to receiving a reply from the BMC, wherein during the OS installation process, the unattended pack is obtained from the USB key so as to acquire the user parameters in the installation process. The method and system make it possible for the OS installation to use no external storage or network apparatus and thus the required resources are reduced in the OS installation for a host.
