A totem pole power factor correction (PFC) converter is disclosed. The totem pole PFC converter includes a first transistor having a first current terminal coupled to a first node, a first control terminal, and a second current terminal. Also included is a second transistor having a third current terminal coupled to the second current terminal at a second node, a second control terminal, and a fourth current terminal coupled to a third node. A first rectifier is coupled to the first node and a first current sense resistor is coupled between the first rectifier and a fourth node. A second rectifier is coupled to the third node and a second current sense resistor coupled between the second rectifier and the fourth node. A current sense voltage for an analog controller is generated by current alternately flowing through the first current sense resistor and the second current sense resistor.

Totem pole PFC converter and system

A control system for a power converter includes a digital reference signal generator, a first proportional-integral (PI) controller, a second PI controller, and a diode. The digital reference signal generator is configured to operate in a maximum peak power tracking (MPPT) mode of operation and an output voltage control mode of operation. In the MPPT mode of operation, the digital reference signal generator is configured to receive an input voltage and an input current provided to the power converter and provide an input voltage reference signal based on the input voltage and the input current. In the output voltage control mode of operation, the digital reference signal generator is configured to provide a constant input voltage reference signal.

Hybrid analog and digital power converter controller

An apparatus, e.g., a boost converter, includes a first switch configured to be coupled to an inductor and to support a charging current in the inductor from a power source and at least two serially-coupled second switches coupled in parallel with the first switch and configured to selectively route current from the inductor to at least two serially-connected capacitors. The apparatus may further include a control circuit configured to operate the first switch and the plurality of second switches.

Boost converter with reduced switching loss and methods of operating the same

In accordance with some embodiments, a buck-boost circuit is contemplated which is bi-directional. That is, the buck-boost circuit be configured to produce a load voltage for a load responsive to a source voltage from a voltage source, and the buck-boost circuit may also be configured to produce a charging voltage for the voltage source responsive to a second voltage source connected to the load. In an embodiment, the buck-boost circuit may be operating in boost mode when providing the load voltage and may be operating in buck mode when providing the charging voltage.
