The present invention relates to an ink cartridge, an ink cartridge assembly and a method for detecting the installation of the ink cartridge. A plurality of ink cartridges are detachably mounted on an inkjet printer including a light receiver and a plurality of apparatus electrical contacts which are commonly connected with a line, the ink cartridge comprises a container electrical contact electrically connected with corresponding apparatus electrical contact an information storage device, a light-emitting portion configured to emit light towards the light receiver, and a control portion configured to control the light-emitting portion to emit light, wherein, the control portion of the ink cartridge controls the light-emitting portion to emit light when receiving an emission instruction sent by the inkjet printer. Therefore, the stability of the ink cartridge installation detection can be fully guaranteed and the phenomenon of installation detection error can be avoided.

The present invention relates to an ink cartridge for an inkjet printer, which comprises: an ink reservoir for storing ink, an ink outlet for supplying ink to the printer, and an installation detection component which is coordinated with the printer to detect whether the ink cartridge is successfully installed. The installation detection component includes a controller, a connecting circuit and a light-emitting portion connected with the controller through the connecting circuit. The controller is configured to control the light-emitting portion to emit light which will be received by sensors of the printer to determine whether the installation is successful, and controls the light-emitting portion automatically. The ink cartridge for the inkjet printer provided by the present invention solves the technical problem that the installation of the traditional ink cartridge must undergo strict actual inspection of a printer installation program.

During the ink refilling, air in a sealed ink cartridge can be sucked to enable ink in the ink container to flow into the sealed ink cartridge, so that negative pressure is formed in the ink container and the ink is conveyed from the ink container to the ink cartridge under the negative pressure, thus the refilling of the ink into the ink cartridge and the replenishing of air into the ink container may not be carried out at the same time.
