This disclosure provides methods, components, devices and systems for modulation of extended long range (ELR) wireless packets. A wireless communication device receives an indication to transmit a single-user wireless packet associated with an ELR communication mode. The indication may be of a resource allocation, associated with the ELR communication mode, via which to transmit the packet. The packet may include a preamble portion and a data portion, with at least the data portion associated with a duplication scheme pertaining to the ELR communication mode. The wireless communication device transmits the packet in accordance with the indication. The wireless communication device may transmit the packet using a first quantity of duplications of at least the data portion in accordance with the duplication scheme, with the first quantity of duplications associated with the ELR communication mode.

Modulation of extended long range wireless packets

This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for increasing carrier frequencies for wireless communications in wireless local area networks (WLANs). Some implementations more specifically relate to packet designs that support wireless communications on carrier frequencies above 7 GHz. In some aspects, a wireless communication device may map a physical layer convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) to orthogonal subcarriers according to existing tone plans associated with carrier frequencies below 7 GHz and may up-clock the PPDU for transmission on carrier frequencies above 7 GHz (such as by increasing the frequency of a clock signal used to convert the PPDU between the frequency domain and the time domain). In some implementations, the PPDU may conform to an existing PPDU format designed for sub-7 GHz wireless communications. In some other implementations, the PPDU may conform to a 'green field' PPDU format optimized for wireless communications on carrier frequencies above 7 GHz.

60 GHz physical layer convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) formats

This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for distributed transmission of short training fields in a power spectral density limited frequency band. In one aspect, a device receives a distributed resource unit (dRU) assignment for transmission of a dRU portion of a physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU); determines a spatial stream global cyclic shift delay (CSD) index for an short training field (STF) of the dRU portion of the PPDU; and transmits, based on the spatial stream global CSD index, the EHT of the dRU portion of the PPDU across a dRU spreading bandwidth associated with the dRU assignment using a tone plan and sequence corresponding to a regular resource unit (rRU) transmission mode.

Distributed transmission of short training fields

This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems that support communicating using orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) according to a tone plan that supports 20 MHz subchannel puncturing within a wireless channel. In some aspects, a non-legacy tone plan may define a set of tones for a resource unit (RU) such that the RU does not overlap a 20 MHz subchannel boundary of the wireless channel. The locations of the set of tones in the non-legacy tone plan may be shifted relative to corresponding tones associated with a corresponding RU according to a legacy tone plan. One or more of the disclosed tone plans may enable puncturing of subchannels while making use of some RUs that would otherwise partially overlap a punctured subchannel in the legacy tone plan.

Tone plan for wireless communication

This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for wireless communications over a 320 MHz bandwidth. Some implementations more specifically relate to signaling techniques for indicating the bandwidth of a physical layer convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) transmitted in a secondary 160 MHz channel of the 320 MHz bandwidth. In some implementations, an access point (AP) may transmit an aggregated PPDU (A-PPDU) that includes a first sub-PPDU transmitted within a primary 160 MHz channel and a second sub-PPDU transmitted within a secondary 160 MHz channel. In such implementations, the first sub-PPDU may carry bandwidth information indicating the bandwidth of the first sub-PPDU within the primary 160 MHz channel and the second sub-PPDU may carry bandwidth information indicating the 320 MHz bandwidth.

This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for increasing the transmit power of wireless communication devices operating on power spectral density (PSD)-limited wireless channels. Some implementations more specifically relate to LTF designs that support distributed transmissions. In some aspects, a transmitting device may obtain a sequence of values representing an LTF of a PPDU and may map the sequence of values to a number (N) of noncontiguous subcarrier indices of a plurality of subcarrier indices spanning a wireless channel according to a distributed tone plan. In some implementations, the transmitting device may modulate the sequence of values on N tones, representing a logical RU, and map the N tones to the N noncontiguous subcarrier indices, respectively. In some other implementations, the sequence of values may be obtained based on relative locations of the N noncontiguous subcarrier indices in the wireless channel.

Long training field (LTF) in distributed transmission

This disclosure provides systems, devices, apparatus, and methods, including computer programs encoded on storage media, for techniques for reducing feedback information in an extremely high throughput (EHT) wireless local area network (WLAN). A receiving device (beamformee), such as a station (STA), may receive a sounding signal from a transmitting device (beamformer), such as an access point (AP), and transmit channel feedback. The receiving device may transmit the channel feedback as part of a reduced compressed beamforming feedback (CBF) operation that includes determining a first set of channel characteristics. The receiving device may select a subset of the first set of channel characteristics and determine a set of differential characteristics based on the subset. The transmitting device may then transmit the sets of characteristics as reduced CBF to the transmitting device. The transmitting device may determine a channel estimation for beamformed signaling based on the reduced CBF.

Techniques for reducing feedback information

A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. In one aspect, an apparatus is configured to transmit user data in a first symbol of a first symbol type. The first symbol type has a first symbol duration, a first frequency bandwidth, and a first tone plan. The first tone plan includes a first valid start tone index, a first valid end tone index, and a first set of DC tones. The apparatus is further configured to transmit an LTF in a second symbol of a second symbol type. The second symbol type has a second symbol duration, a second frequency bandwidth, and a second tone plan. The second tone plan includes a second valid start tone index, a second valid end tone index, and a second set of DC tones.

Tone plan for LTF compression

This disclosure provides methods, devices, and techniques to indicate operations by extremely high throughput (EHT) devices on an operating bandwidth, including devices in a basic service set (BSS) supporting the use of a 320 MHz channel. In some aspects, the supported functionality may include extensions to flexibility and support rules, structures, and signaling using legacy fields, frames, and features. In addition, the supported functionality may include channel sensing and reporting, such as per-channel network allocation vectors (NAVs) for the sub-channels of the operating bandwidth. A device may identify an operating mode for an operating bandwidth and determine a value for a bandwidth query report (BQR) or a target wake time (TWT) element. The device may check multiple NAVs for sub-channels of the operating bandwidth. The operating bandwidth may span concurrent operations on traditional Wi-Fi frequency bands including the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands as well as the 6 GHz band.

Supporting 320 MHz operating BW

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatuses for data retransmissions in a wireless network. In some implementations, a wireless communication device may transmit a first data unit to a receiving device, may receive a first hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback frame indicating that a portion of the first data unit was not successfully decoded by the receiving device, may retransmit the indicated portion of the first data unit to the receiving device in response to the first HARQ feedback frame, and may transmit a second data unit, different than the first data unit, to the receiving device concurrently with the retransmission of the indicated portion of the first data unit.

HARQ sequences in wireless networks

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide an apparatus for wireless communications. The apparatus generally includes a processing system configured to generate a frame for triggering transmission of a plurality of data units from a plurality of wireless nodes, a first interface configured to output the frame for transmission to the plurality of wireless nodes, and a second interface configured to obtain the plurality of data units after outputting the frame for transmission, wherein the plurality of data units have different lengths.

Power save for multi-user (MU) operation

This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for interpreting reserved bits and values associated with different releases of a wireless communication protocol. In some implementations, a wireless communication device may determine whether to terminate or continue reception of a physical layer protocol convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) if it detects a reserved bit in the physical layer preamble set to an unsupported value (such as a value different than what is defined by a version or release of the wireless communication protocol supported by the wireless communication device). In some other implementations, a wireless communication device may determine whether to terminate or continue reception of a PPDU if it detects a field in the physical layer preamble set to a reserved value (such as defined by a version or release of the wireless communication protocol supported by the wireless communication device).

Interpretation of reserved states in wireless packets

Aspects presented herein may improve communications at high bandwidth or coverage limited scenarios, which may specify high transceiver energy efficiency and robustness to non-linear power amplifiers. In one aspect, a first network node transmits first information indicative of at least one of a modulation scheme or a modulation parameter to a second network node, where the modulation scheme is from a set of modulation schemes and the modulation parameter is associated with the modulation scheme, and where the set of modulation schemes includes one or more of: APSK, QAM, CPM, ceCPM, or MACPM. The first network node, from the second network node, second information indicative of at least one of the modulation scheme or the modulation parameter associated with the modulation scheme for at least one transmission.

Continuous phase modulation in wireless communications

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a wireless device may perform a listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure for a narrowband communication that provides time and frequency synchronization and/or scheduling information for an ultra-wideband (UWB) communication. The wireless device may transmit the narrowband communication in response to the LBT procedure being successful. The wireless device may transmit the UWB communication based at least in part on the time and frequency synchronization and/or scheduling information. Numerous other aspects are described.

Narrowband communication for ultra-wideband communication

This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for wireless communication, and particularly, methods, devices and systems for physical (PHY) layer control signaling. A first physical layer convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) may precede a second PPDU. The first PPDU may be referred to as a PHY control PPDU and may include a physical layer control signaling field (CNT-SIG) that informs one or more stations (STAs) regarding a physical layer configuration they should use for the second PPDU. The PHY control PPDU may enable dynamic subchannel assignments for one or more identified STAs, legacy STAs, or sub-bandwidth operating devices. The techniques of this disclosure may enable sharing of a wide bandwidth wireless channel by different types of devices or different basic service sets (BSSs) assigned to different subchannels of the wireless channel.
