A system comprises a IoT resource and a computing device of a user. The computing device comprises a processor that executes a personal privacy app that receives data about the IoT resource and communicates a preference setting for the user with respect to the IoT device. The preference setting is based on the data received about the IoT resource.

Personalized privacy assistant

A system and method configures permission settings for applications ('apps') running on a computing device of a user. A data center generates at least one model of collective privacy preferences. The computing device is in communication with the data center via a communications network. The computing device comprises a processor that execute at least a first app that requests access to at least one permission of the computing device and a personal privacy assistant app. The personal privacy assistant app receives the at least one model from the one or more servers of the data center; collects information about the user; identifies at least one recommended permission setting for the first app based on the at least one model and such that the recommended permission setting is user-specific; and configures the computing device to implement the received at least one user-specific recommended permission setting.

A flaw scan system for detecting a location of first and second types of location specific anomalies on a storage disk of a hard disk drive comprising a write system, a read system, and first and second anomaly location systems. The write system writes a first set of bits to the storage disk in first and second data patterns. The read system reads the first set of bits from the storage disk. The first anomaly location system determines locations of the first type of location specific anomaly based on the first data pattern. The second anomaly location system determines locations of the second type of location specific anomaly based on the second data pattern.

Systems and methods for detecting flaws on a storage disk

Methods of calibrating an analog front end (AFE) of a read/write channel include measuring a first magnitude of a test signal, measuring a second magnitude of an output signal of the AFE generated in response to the test signal, and comparing the first magnitude and the second magnitude to generate a measure of a gain of the AFE at a frequency of the test signal. A data storage device includes a read/write head configured to generate an analog input signal, an AFE coupled to the read/write head and configured to amplify and filter the analog input signal, a test signal generator configured to generate a test signal having a frequency substantially equal to a fundamental frequency of the analog input signal or any of its harmonics, and an attenuator coupled between the test signal generator and the AFE.

Calibration of analog front end for gain sensitive measurements

Disk drive self-servo writing includes transferring a reference pattern by magnetic printing onto a reference disk, wherein the resulting printed reference pattern includes embedded servo information that provides servo timing and head position information, installing the reference disk and a head into the disk drive, reading the printed reference pattern using the head to generate a readback signal, sampling the readback signal at a sampling rate to generate a sampled signal, processing the sampled signal waveform spectrum to generate a recovered signal including the embedded servo information and fundamental and higher harmonics of the sampled signal, using the embedded servo information from the recovered signal to precisely position and maintain the head at concentric tracks of the reference disk, and self-writing servo patterns onto the tracks with the head.

Heat assisted magnetic recording systems with composite recording films are disclosed. The magnetic recording films include superparamagnetic nanoparticles dispersed in an antiferromagnetic or ferrimagnetic matrix. The matrix provides antiferromagnetic coupling with the superparamagnetic nanoparticles, and minimizes exchange interactions between adjacent nanoparticles.

An enhanced interleave type error correction method is provided in which decoding of an enhanced interleave block is done. Subsequently the decoding may be done by decoding the estimated codewords multiple times using a single error correction code. In addition, a decoder and a digital communication system for implementing the enhanced interleave type error correction method are provided.
