A system and method of using metrics to control throttling and swapping in a message processing system is provided. A workload status of a message processing system is determined, and the system polls for a new message according to the workload status. The message processing system identifies a blocked instance and calculates an expected idle time for the blocked instance. The system dehydrates the blocked instance if the expected idle time exceeds a predetermined threshold.

Use of metrics to control throttling and swapping in a message processing system

Techniques for a mixed audio conference are described. An apparatus may comprise an audio video multipoint control unit to mix call information from multiple call connections established over a packet-switched network for a conference call. The apparatus may comprise a telephony gateway communicatively coupled to the audio video multipoint control unit. The telephony gateway may establish a bridge connection with a conference bridge servicing a call connection over a circuit-switched network, the telephony gateway to translate call information from the call connection for use by the audio video multipoint control unit. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Techniques for a mixed audio conference

One or more techniques and/or systems are provided for image blending and/or facilitating image transitions. In an example, a map interface displays map information, such as of a town, through a visualization. A first image having a first level of detail and a first image type (e.g., satellite imagery of the town) may be displayed through the visualization. While zoomed into the town, a second image having a second level of detail and a second image type (e.g., aerial imagery of the town) may be displayed through the visualization. Instead of merely transitioning the visualization from displaying the first image to displaying the second image (during zooming), which may otherwise provide a visually abrupt transition, one or more intermediate blended images, having intermediate levels of detail between the first image and the second image, may be generated and displayed during the transition between the first image and the second image.

A centralized service communicatively links an application provider to a plurality of different message forwarding services. The centralized service receives a request and authenticates the application provider associated with the request. Further, the centralized service delivers a message embodied by the request to a first message forwarding service with a first protocol and/or to a second message forwarding service with a second protocol different than the first protocol.

A communication system has a plurality of collections. Each collection comprises a security boundary within which private data is accessible. Each collection is associated with a director. The directors receive messages that specify domains. When a director for a given collection receives a message, the director identifies one of the collections as being a home collection for the domain specified by the message. If the specified domain's home collection is the given collection or another collection within a given privacy boundary, the director forwards the message to a server pool associated with the specified domain's home collection. Otherwise, if the specified domain's home collection is not within the given privacy boundary, the director forwards the message to the director of the specified domain's home collection.

Architecture for a scalable, pluggable multi-party, and distributed multimedia conferencing. A centralized policy and control conferencing component allows the seamless plug-in of different distributed media components (e.g., data, audio/video, messaging) to accommodate client participation in a conference session. The centralized conference control component includes the following: a conference notification service for accepting subscriptions to the conference state and notifying subscribers about changes to that state; a conference policy and roster control service for storing and manipulating conference policy and rosters; a security service for user authorization/authentication based on user identity information; a scheduling service for conference scheduling; an allocation service for allocating the most available media component(s) for a conference session; and, an MCU management service for conference policy and roster management of the distributed media components.

A platform for manipulating data associated with defining, deploying, and administering distributed server systems utilizes a structured data model with a flexible replication mechanism, a set of schemas, and an object model to manipulate system topology, configuration (settings), and policies. A scoping mechanism for characteristics of the settings, policies, and resolution is provided in addition to the data model along with an authorization mechanism for single and multi-tenant environments.

Definition configuration and administration of distributed server systems through structured data model

An XLANG/s compiler detects convoy scenarios during compilation and generates runtime directives to correctly correlate incoming messages with business process instances. A convoy scenario, present in event driven processes, is defined by a correlation set initialized during a receive operation which is provided to a subsequent receive operation. The compiler detects those convoy scenarios by analyzing the control and dataflow of a XLANG/s program. Three convoy patterns are distinguished: (1) activation convoys, (2) uniform sequential convoys, and (3) non-uniform sequential convoys. XLANG/s allows declarative descriptions of convoy scenarios without requiring an understanding of the low-level details supporting their correct execution. Convoy scenarios are processed by statically analyzing a written workflow application to deduce the nature and type of convoy scenarios used by the application. Information is extracted at compile time to support the runtime infrastructure. The runtime infrastructure is tightly integrated with the underlying correlation and subscription evaluation framework.

Efficient processing of a convoy workflow scenario in a message driven process

A system and method of processing a message in an asynchronous architecture is provided. In the method, a determination is made that a response to a message sent by an instance of software code is to be received, where the response indicates whether the message succeeded or failed. Another determination is made as to whether the response has been received. If the response has not been received, the instance of the software code is stored in memory, thereby suspending the instance. The response is received, the instance resumed and the response is processed.

Handling a delivery failure as a program exception in a distributed asynchronous architecture

Enhanced communication systems with various resiliency and survivability aspects are provided. Data center, cluster, network, and load balancer survivability are provided for seamless communication experience in case of data center, cluster, discovery infrastructure, or hardware load balancer failures. Call, data, and authentication survivability are provided through dynamic re-routing over alternative networks, continuous data replication, and alternative authentication mechanisms. Seamless failover is ensured through use of identical signaling protocols and data carried by protocols between primary and backup clusters. Voicemail resiliency is achieved by re-routing calls directed to voicemail over alternative paths such as PSTN connections.

Survivable and resilient real time communication architecture

A XLANG/s compilation method is provided that uses data flow analysis of a program's flow graph to determine lifetimes of a data object. A flowgraph is created according to abstract computer instructions. A depth-first order is assigned to basic blocks and a dominance relationship between the basic blocks is determined. A determination is made as to whether any loops are present within the flowgraph and, if so, the loops are identified. A creation point, destruction point and lock point for the data object is determined. Instructions are inserted into the computer code to create the at least one data object at the creation point, to destroy the data object at the destruction point and to lock the data object at the lock point.

Data flow analysis of transactional processes

Designing and executing a workflow having flow-based and constraint-based regions. A user selects one or more activities to be part of a constraint-based region. Each constraint-based region has a constraint associated therewith. The workflow is executed by executing the flow-based region and the constraint-based region. The flow-based region executes sequentially. The constraint is evaluated, and the constraint-based region executes responsive to the evaluated constraint.

Unified model for authoring and executing flow-based and constraint-based workflows

Large messages in the form of hierarchically structured documents are processed in a streaming fashion using the ultimate consumer read requests as the driving force for the processing. The messages are partitioned into fixed length segments. The segments are processed in pipeline fashion. This processing chain includes simulating random access of hierarchical documents using stream transformations, mapping streams to a transport's native capabilities, composing streams into chains and using pipeline processing on the chains, staging fragments into a database and routing messages when complete messages have been formed, and providing tools to allow the end user to inspect partial messages.
