A method for continuous estimation an instantaneous weight of a graphite electrode being consumed in an electric arc furnace. The method includes the steps of continuously sensing a hydraulic pressure acting on a mast holding the graphite electrode; converting each one of the sensed hydraulic pressures to a corresponding weight of the graphite electrode; and determining from the corresponding weights of the graphite electrode the instantaneous weight of the graphite electrode.

Method and system for detection of low quality graphite electrode on an EAF

A method for identifying, classifying, and sending notification of an electric arc furnace's (EAF) anomalies to improve the EAF efficiency. The method includes the steps of establishing baseline state measurements of the EAF, receiving new state measurements of the EAF and statistically testing the new state measurements against the baseline state measurements. The method further includes the steps of identifying as an anomaly a failed statistical test, classifying the identified anomaly and sending notification of the classified anomaly to a configurable list of recipients.

Anomaly detection and notification of electric arc furnace, system and method

An electric arc furnace (EAF) including a raw material container, a set of electrodes, a set of electrical potential transformers, and a reference signal verification device. The set of electrodes are configured to be controllably extended toward the raw material container. The set of electrical potential transformers are correspondingly coupled to the set of electrodes. The reference signal verification device is configured to carry out the steps of reading a reference signal value coming from the raw material container; comparing the reference signal value to an approximated value; and determining that there is a loss of the reference signal if the reference signal value is not within a predetermined amount of the approximated value.

Method for detection of the loss of an electric arc furnace measurement reference

An electric arc furnace (EAF) including a set of mast hydraulics, a current transformer, a voltage transformer, a legacy control system and a set-point modifier. The legacy control system is in control of the set of mast hydraulics of the EAF, and receives information from the current transformer relative to current being supplied to the EAF and from the voltage transformer relative to voltage being applied to the EAF. The legacy control system using a set of set-points for the control of the set of mast hydraulics, the voltage and the current of the EAF. The set-point modifier communicates with the legacy control system, and executes the steps of: evaluating a cost function of key performance indicators of a previous heat of the EAF, the key performance indicators including electrical energy use and/or electrode consumption; and altering the set of set-points dependent upon the cost function.

Method and apparatus for dynamic selection of electric arc-furnace control set-points

An above ground fuel transfer module includes a bottom surrounded by vertical side walls forming a fuel containment vessel. One corner of the support frame has the vertical side walls recessed to form a recessed compartment for a fuel dispensing pump and electrical equipment which are thereby protected by the frame and side walls from being damaged by vehicles or the like operated in the vicinity. An electronic circuit card connected to a control panel controls the transfer of fuel and monitors safety conditions.

Above ground fuel transfer module

A vapor pressure control system for controlling the vapor pressure in a fuel storage tank is provided which comprises a cooling chamber for cooling the fuel vapor, wherein the temperature of the cooling chamber is maintained at a point slightly above the freezing point of water. Vapor intake and return lines provide for communication of the fuel vapor between the tank and the cooling chamber. A fan interposed in the intake line causes the circulation of the fuel vapor between the tank and the cooling chamber. The fan is operated by a pressure sensitive switch which causes the fan to run when the difference between the ambient air pressure and tank vapor pressure falls below a certain minimum level, and which causes the fan to stop when the difference between the ambient air pressure and tank vapor pressure rises above a certain, maximum level. The fan is shut off by a temperature sensitive switch when the ambient temperature approaches the freezing point of water.

An above ground fuel storage and dispensing apparatus that is self contained and includes a support frame on which a fuel storage tank is mounted and surrounded by a fuel containment vessel formed by side walls and a bottom of the support frame for containing any fuel that may leak from the tank or fittings and pipe extending from the tank. One corner of the support frame has the vertical side walls recessed to form a recessed compartment for the fuel dispensing pump and electrical equipment which are thereby protected by the frame and side walls from being damaged by vehicles or the like operated in the vicinity.
