A corrosion inhibited composition containing an aqueous gas conditioning solution such as an alkanolamine with small amounts of soluble trivalent bismuth compounds. The compositions are useful to separate acid gases such as carbon dioxide from feed streams in gas conditioning apparatus with minimum amounts of corrosion of the stainless steel.

Bismuth inhibitors for acid gas conditioning solutions

A corrosion inhibited composition containing a gas conditioning solution such as an alkanol amine with water or with organic solvents and with small amounts of soluble thiocyanate compounds, soluble trivalent bismuth compounds with or without soluble divalent nickel or cobalt compounds. The compositions are useful to separate acid gases such as carbon dioxide from hydrocarbon feed streams in gas conditioning apparatus with minimum amounts of corrosion of the ferrous surfaces.

Method and compositions for reducing corrosion in the removal of acidic

The corrosion of aluminum in the presence of aqueous mineral acid solutions containing conventional nitrogen base ferrous metal corrosion inhibitors is markedly reduced by incorporating an alkyl, aryl or alkylaryl sulfonate or sulfate surface active agent as an additional corrosion inhibiting agent.

Corrosion inhibitor for aluminum in aqueous acids

A copper based corrosion inhibitor composition and a method for employing the same to prevent corrosion of metal in contact with acid-gases, i.e., hydrogen sulfide, carbonyl sulfide and carbon dioxide. Copper, or a copper compound and sulfur or a sulfur compound, is maintained in solution in contact with the metal under conditions of operation, particularly the thermal regeneration, which provide copper ions and sulfur atoms, particularly polysulfide moieties at the surface of the metal, e.g. copper sulfide is dissolved in an aqueous alkanolamine, monoethanolamine, solution used as an absorbent for acid-gas removal from sour-gas. The copper and sulfur moieties may be formed in situ or prepared and added in solution. The inhibitor has particular utility in protecting metal surfaces which are subject to corrosion as an incidence of the acid-gas content of either natural or synthetic gases.
