The present invention provides a hybrid adsorption heat exchanging device comprising: at least one tubular or micro channel structure for carrying a heat transfer fluid; the external surface of said structure being provided with extensions in at least two locations; said extensions forming a bed therebetween for providing one or more adsorbent materials; a coating of adsorbent material being provided on at least a part of said extensions.

Hybrid adsorber heat exchanging device and method of manufacture

The present invention provides a device with a combined hybrid mechanical vapour compression-adsorption cycle, particularly to devices used in moisture or temperature control applications which incorporate or embody refrigeration or heat pump cycles, such as for example HVAC applications. In this invention, heat from the adsorption process and/or condensation process of the adsorption cycle is pumped to the desorption process. Thus, this new hybrid combined cycle becomes a partially or fully electricity driven heat pump cycle.

Devices with hybrid vapour compression-adsorption cycle and method for implementation thereof

A water desalination system including at least one pair of evaporators, said pair including a high pressure and a low pressure evaporator, each for evaporating saline water to produce water vapor; at least three adsorption beds in selective vapor communication with each evaporator, said adsorption beds arranged to reversibly adsorb the water vapor from the corresponding evaporator; said adsorption beds in selective vapor communication with a condenser, and in heat transfer communication with a heat source for selectively desorbing the adsorbed water vapor; said condenser arranged to condense the water vapor to desalinated water; wherein said system is arranged to sequentially connect, for a pre-determined period, each evaporator to a corresponding adsorption bed, and the heat source to the third bed.

Desalination system and method

A water desalination system includes an evaporator for evaporating saline water to produce water vapor and an adsorption means in selective vapor communication with the evaporator for reversibly adsorbing the water vapor from the evaporator. The adsorption means is in selective vapor communication with a condenser, and desorbing means for desorbing the adsorbed water vapor from the adsorption means for collection by the condenser. The condenser is adapted to condense the water vapor to desalinated water.

Apparatus and method for desalination

A regenerative adsorption process and a multi-reactor regenerative adsorption chiller assembly including a condenser adapted to receive a coolant from a source; an evaporator connected to the condenser to provide a refrigerant circuit; a plurality of reactors, each being able to operate in adsorption and desorption modes and having a coolant inlet to directly or indirectly receive coolant when operating in adsorption mode before, after or simultaneous with the condenser, and a waste heat inlet for directly or indirectly receiving waste heat from a waste heat source when operating in desorption mode; and control means for controlling said plurality of reactors such that each reactor alternately operates in adsorption and desorption modes for substantially identical time intervals, and such that each reactor has an equal chance of being the first reactor to receive the coolant when operating in adsorption mode, and the waste heat from the waste heat source when operating in desorption mode.
