A method of providing a personalized audio briefing to a user is performed at an electronic device. The device receives identification of information sources associated with the user. Each of the information sources is associated with a content type. The device receives an authorization to access the identified information sources and a preferred order of content types for presentation within the audio briefing. It transmits to a remote system the identification, the authorization, and the preferred order. Following the transmitting, the device receives a verbal input from the user requesting the audio briefing. In response to the verbal input, the device receives a response generated by the remote system, including content from the information sources and information inserted by the remote system based on the authorization to access received from the user. The device outputs an audible response according to the preferred order.

Personalized and contextualized audio briefing

Determining whether, upon cessation of a second automated assistant session that interrupted and supplanted a prior first automated assistant session: (1) to automatically resume the prior first automated assistant session, or (2) to transition to an alternative automated assistant state in which the prior first session is not automatically resumed. Implementations further relate to selectively causing, based on the determining and upon cessation of the second automated assistant session, either the automatic resumption of the prior first automated assistant session that was interrupted, or the transition to the state in which the first session is not automatically resumed.

Techniques are described herein for detecting and/or enrolling (or commissioning) new 'hot commands' that are useable to cause an automated assistant to perform responsive action(s) without having to be first explicitly invoked. In various implementations, an automated assistant may be transitioned from a limited listening state into a full speech recognition state in response to a trigger event. While in the full speech recognition state, the automated assistant may receive and perform speech recognition processing on a spoken command from a user to generate a textual command. The textual command may be determined to satisfy a frequency threshold in a corpus of textual commands. Consequently, data indicative of the textual command may be enrolled as a hot command. Subsequent utterance of another textual command that is semantically consistent with the textual command may trigger performance of a responsive action by the automated assistant, without requiring explicit invocation.

A method at an electronic device with one or more microphones and a speaker includes receiving a first voice input; comparing the first voice input to one or more voice models; based on the comparing, determining whether the first voice input corresponds to any of a plurality of occupants, and according to the determination, authenticating an occupant and presenting a response, or restricting functionality of the electronic device.

A method at an electronic device with an audio input device and an audio output device includes: receiving through the audio input device a verbal input from a user; transmitting information corresponding to the verbal input to a remote system; receiving from the remote system a response responsive to the verbal input, the response including information in accordance with one or more criteria; and outputting the response through the audio output device.

A method at an electronic device with one or more microphones and a speaker includes receiving a first freeform voice input; comparing the first voice input to a set of voice models associated with a plurality of users associated with the electronic device, where the voice models are trained to the electronic device; based on the comparing, determining that the first voice input corresponds to a first user of the plurality of users; and presenting a response in accordance with the determination.
